Three horses had stood and watched the entire skirmish from the shadows of a thicket not far away. "Look at him! He's hardly alive," whispered a mare, "I can't bear to watch any more of this madness. They should kill the poor thing; put him out of his misery!" A stallion snorted and rolled his eyes, "If you have such a problem with it, do it yourself or shut up." he snapped gruffly. Her ears fell back and she paced backward to lay down, not saying a word.
"The kid's got potential," said the second stallion. "It takes guts to do what he did, even if he did almost lose his life doing it." The first smirked. "You thinkin' what I'm thinkin'?" The second nodded slowly, his face stoic and unmoving. "Let's go." The first roughly shoved the mare to her feet, "You're coming with us."
The trio soon made it to Jay's limp body and each horse picked him up by a limb to carry him off, the strength of all three of them making it an easy task.
Jay's eyes fluttered open, he saw three blurry shapes around him but his vision was so unfocused that he couldn't make out who the shapes were or what they were doing.
Soon, he faded back into unconsiousness.
The mare grimaced when she saw him stir for that moment and then drift off again. She sighed heavily when she neared a familiar place - she had never been so relieved to be back to the horrid place she'd accepted over time to be 'home'. This stallion needed medical care... fast.
"Hurry up," one stallion hissed bluntly, and she picked up the pace as fast as her legs could take her. They soon passed the large, lifeless husk of a grand Oak tree and after passing around it, were gone.
