Here is my Daisy - She is 1/2 boxer and 1/2 husky. I picked her out at 4 weeks and brought her home the day she turned 8 weeks. This dog is the love oif my life!

PotterWatch - Someone may have already answered your question, but Elephant Man Disease is a disease that is VERY rare in dogs, but Gabe (Gabriel) has it! It causes a bunch of tumers to grow all over the body, but, as far as we and any other vets know, it doesn't change the dogs health, life-span, or anything of that sort. Gabe has already had one surgery, taking some tumers from his head. When closing up his head after the surgery his ears where pulled up on his head, so he looks younger

The vets said that if the tumers move INTO his heart or his brain it could cause major problems, but at the moment none are very deep in his body. You can see a ton of them sticking out on his skin, and if you use two finger you can grab one of the tumers completely in your hand, but it is IN his skin. He has had many surgeries before, including one that my father did on him! My father was a vet for fourteen years, until I was about five, then he quit and became a minister

He still has his liscence (SP?) so he had the honors of taking a corn-cob out of Gabe's stomach when he swollowed one and it got stuck in there! After that surgery I went over and helped my father staple Gabe's stomach back together. Not as fun as you would think

Our Boxer, Daphne, was our dog for 9 years. She was a big part of our family and our most 'active' member. I remember my mom bringing her home when I was just starting grade school. She-as my mom would say-came to us at a time that we needed her most. She was the best dog. Daphers was our shoulder to cry on when we were upset. She was our friend when we needed one...she even knew to give us our space when we wanted to be alone. Even when she grew older, one would notice. She gave no signs of being an old lady-signature of the Boxer.

One morning I woke up and my mom told me that she had had a seizure in the middle of the night. We all knew what it meant. That morning before I went to school, I sat with her alone for a few moments and said my peice, that she made this family what it was and there will always be a place in my heart for her forever. When the vet called 3 days later to tell us that she had passed on, I felt empty. When you know someone for that long-human or dog-the loss is felt in whole. I honor her memory with this peice:

Boxers are awesome dogs.

It is biased, to say that really, because she was our first. But we've had other dogs, and have friends with other days, and Daphne got the compliments.

She's even protected the animals over the years, and had no training. She just knew. We could leave her alone with them and she never harmed a feather on their skin. She always knew how to make us smile. I wish I had a picture to share-everyone posted such wonderful pictures!

I agree berny will even help heard escaped chickens, the roo got out one day and kept flapping up against the netting trying to get back in- berny was having none of that and just did the boxer thing and gently pinned him with a paw so he'd stop flapping everywhere and I could catch him.

This is our boxer, Andre`. We found him as a small puppy when we were on vacation in Kentucky last summer. He was skin and bones, obviously worm-infested, and had a lot of hair missing (turned out to be mange). This poor cutie had been through so much, and our vet estimated him to be 6-7 weeks old. He's a big guy now, and a great part of our family.

This is him sitting on our shelter-dog, Mr. Tibbs. Mr. Tibbs had a rawhide chew that Andre` wanted, and Andre` didn't know what else to do. Silly boy!
