You are right about the larger breast on a crossbreed, the commercial broiler industry caught on to that a long time ago, there's no reason why it wouldn't work with just about any cross. On second thought, I don't know that a Silkie would bring much to the table other than feathered legs and off colored skin, but you know what I mean. I have also found that crossing a Buckeye male over another breed hen doesn't have the same rate of growth, I'll try to get pictures of different crosses to illustrate. 2013 is a goat year here, and the birds take advantage of that to surprise me with all kinds of crossbreeds.![]()
