Update: The "March" Swap eggs, and some of our own, were added to the incubator the last of March. This made, Day 1 being April 1st, which we figure would be easy to remember. I knew that the temp could change, with the addition of new/more eggs, but I also figured I would be here to keep an eye on things. Not the way it happened, so the lesson learned, have a fallback plan... and know that someone else knows what to do... how to take over in an emergency.
An emergency is just what we had happen.
On April 1st, my 13 year old son was hit by a pickup truck while walking home from school. I was backing out of the driveway to go see if I could find him (he was late), when Mama came running out of the house, yelling, the hospital called....
We are home now, as of Saturday evening. He has a fractured collar bone, two fractured ribs, lacerated liver, 10% deflated lung and lots of scraps. He is alive, breathing and walking. He does not remember what happened. He says, he crossed the road, and sat on the apartment steps to rest, because he felt to tired. He never made it across the road.
The person who hit him, was talking on a cell phone, and the witness behind her, said the view was clear, he had the right of way and she should have seen him. The driver will be charged and I will be going to see a lawyer. Medical bills and ongoing medical problems have to be paid.
No one has enough to pay for the stress/trama I've dealt with.
Anyway, while I was away, Mama did the best she could, but the temp went up to 104. I have a headcold, so don't want to handle the eggs more then needed. I set up the hatcher, got the temp/humidty right, and moved the eggs into a carton, and into the hatcher last night. I didn't take time to candle them again. Mama is worried about them, but with my headcold, I don't want to chance harming them with it. By Wednesday/Thursday, we will know, even without candling now.
