the cream gene

I disagree.
The hen looks like a red enhanced silver wheaten with hackle black WITHOUT any columbian in her.
Like a silver sussex without columbian. Dutch bantams have the same color and is called "salmon".

I.m.o. Cb Champagne blonde is very unlikely to exist. I also have my doubt on Dilute, at least about some of its presumed effects.
The documentation is not convincing. There never have been any testerlines or decent crossings to prove their existence.

Oh Ok Well I'm sure you know more about it than I do so we'll go with that. Do you have any idea which of the brahma colors pgpoultry listed would be the father ? Since she is Silver Wheaten I'm guessing the father would have to be silver like the Dark Brahma. It would be interesting trying to reproduce it.

pgpoultry, Which way was the cross of the Warren mom, we dont call them that here in the US so was she RIR roo on Light Sussex hen making a Red Sexlink hen or was she LS roo on RIR hen making a light columbian colored hen like the LS ?

Sorry to hijack the thread Aubrey but at least its a bump for someone with info for your question. lol

no problem!

With apologies to Boggy Bottom bantams for intruding on this post.

I've tried to get some sense from the articles on the parentage of Warrens. I THINK it is Light Sussex hen with RIR rooster. The articles said various things which contradicted. One said Warren =ISA brown, most said not. Alternative names for the Warren appears to be Goldline or Gingernut.

I'll definitely try some more eggs under a broody or in the incubator next Spring (At the moment the boys are all lightly moulting and the only thing that they are interested in is food!).

I'll watch the rest of this post with interest to see how other 'creamish' birds arise.

Does anyone know if the Cream Brabanters are genetically cream, or something else? I know they're on the small end, but they are LF. I think I might order a couple from Sandhill to add to my mix.
