it works both ways, as the cream gene is autosomal not sex linked, remember it has to be cream light brown dutchWould be better to put a Mille Fleur d'Uccle rooster over Dutch Bantams or the other way around?

went back and reread how I typed it. yes I miss typed a little what I was trying to say. The buff has dilute, not cream, those are two different genes. Eidted the post to show what I meant to write.thats not correct..
buff carry Dilute, which is a dominant gene, Cream is recessive, if anybody is wanting to introduce the cream color(or a lemon color) to any breed they would be better off staying Clear of the self buff birds, they carry so many unwanted genes, dominant and recessive it will set you back years of breeding... I myself am isolating the Dilute gene, I am at my 3 generation and I have yet to isolate it, I´ll need another 3 more generations to do it...
in short, use Cream dutch bantam, stay away from self buff
I can.Can you get hold of golden lakenvelders? They look like they have a gold diluter too.
hey thats so cool, I´m doing the same, so we can exchange info between us, my buff hen is segregating Blue and a gene that acts like Charcoal(recessive melanizer) aside from the usual Db, Mh, DiI fully agree it can be a pain in the rear though due to all the unknowns hidden in the self buff color.
personally , I'm doing it myself right now too. Still havent got there, should be in 2 more breedings though with what I have going, hope so at least.
do you have access to Cream Light brown Leghorns? if yes, there you go, you have a medium sized cream birdOkay genetic whizes..........................
If I were to try to create a large fowl Creme colored chicken:
If I started with a Creme Light Brown Dutch what breed of large fowl would I need to breed to?
I don't think a Jersey Giant would work to well with a bntam.
Leghorns might work but which color?
Just curious..........
Thanks.
No Cream Light Brown LEghorns that I'm aware of.do you have access to Cream Light brown Leghorns? if yes, there you go, you have a medium sized cream bird
