The EE braggers thread!!!

Both. They lay a few eggs and stop laying and sit on them for 21 days. And they sometimes will go so far as to go to other nests and steal the eggs and put them in their nests (if its not too far away). Yes, hens CAN carry eggs!
really? That's hysterical....I see them scoot them around. I don't have any Roosters, so no babies...Thanks!

I had a black sexlink steal eggs from RIRs and a white leghorn. She got made when I switched some of her eggs out for some blue eggs. She growled at me. She didnt hatch any eggs though she was off the nest way to much.

Wow, I had no idea hens could carry eggs!  Good info, thank you.

They hold them under their beaks up against their necks. Someone posted a picture of their hen doing this back when I asked about eggs moving. I have a hen that practiced at broodiness but hasn't ever committed to the task. At first, I thought all of the hens were laying in one nest. I put in some dummy eggs to encourage the hens to use other boxes rather than waiting. The dummy eggs magically relocated to Hazel's favorite box!

Yep, the heat has been a kicker! We decided to go ahead and add fans, Just been too hot for me to be out their with them very long, so DH agreed to hang a fan in each pen, helping a lot so far, but still, hot.
Thats great that you are adding fans! I can only go out and tend them in the am and check on them in ht afternoon and take them milk jug of ice to put in their water pans and refill their water pans.
I know it will be alot hotter next month so we are going to add a fan for our chickens also.
