I just love looking at the variety of EE's on here. They are all beautiful!!  Here are some updated photos of my EE's.

Ok Please tell me you know what critters crossed to get that beautiful rooster..........????? I have afriend who has 1 almost like him, and we can not figure out what he is.......... I would like to try to breed for a similar roo, but not sure what to mix I can only guess at the heritage........... please let me know if you know.....Kim

I do not know. But i can tell you that I bought the eggs he and the girls hatched out of from someone on this site. He was from Lark Rise. We had two other roosters but he was the nicest so he stayed the others were culled. He is sweet too.

I had a Black Sexlink roo and when I started hatching from him over EE, I got a roo similar to him. Black Sexlinks are usually a cross of a Red Roo and a BR hen so that is how the red showed up in mine.

Trying to figure out a flock rebuild...

I have one beautiful EE pullet. She was raised from hatch with 2 red sex-links and 2 hatchery grade Silver Laced Wyandottes. Sadly, Paula, the EE, is the sole survivor. I bought a couple of "pullets" (I think they're a little old for that title) from a guy on the other side of town. I think one is a black sex-link and the other might be a red sex-link, but she's really light colored. The point is, they're picking on Paula. I expected it to be the other way around, since she's on her home turf. It's not bad, and I'm keeping them separated at night. They only interact when they're free-ranging, but the new girls won't let Paula within 5 or 6 feet of them. I hate that Paula is the outsider. She and the girls she grew up with ran as a pack everywhere they went.

Three is not my ideal flock size. I want at least one more, and wouldn't mind two more. If I get a couple of young EE's, will they gravitate toward Paula? Am I just asking for more trouble? Right now I can't imagine what would happen if they all had to go into the coop together, but I don't think it would be pretty.

I am not a chicken expert by any stretch of the term but in my experience the red and black sex links are not the friendliest of birds (I also do not care for Rhode Island Reds). The EEs I have are more timid & tend to get picked on by the others (this is why I got rid of the others). I think it makes a difference if they are raised together to some extent but birds are like people some are timid & some are bullies. IMO

crele/ misspelled often as creole? color i think.

I think to make a crele bird cross a barred and a partridge. I would cross a Welsummer with a Dominique or a Barred Rock if you want to keep the single comb. But for those who are not familiar with the Legbar, the bird in the post looks like a Legbar to me.

Also on adding new birds to a flock I have found that it is best to add at least three at a time. The resident flock seem to keep to their selves as do the new birds until they all get acquianted

That's what i was wondering, but they are supposed to be rare? They do lay a blue egg though!

They do lay a blue egg. I don't know how rare they are now. I have 4 in the bator developing. I am sure you could pick up a Cream Legbar roo for free or cheap for an EE project.

Most folks who have Legbars charge at least $50 for a pair of chicks and the same for starter pullet. They are bred for production of a blue egg and ability to determine sex at birth and were imported from UK two years ago. It is easy to find Legbar Rooster here in Cali

I can tell you my sweet baby boy was hatched from either and olive or a blueish egg. Can't quite remember. I purchased OE & EE eggs from this site and hatched them. We had a couple other roosters from these eggs as well but they were not very noce so they were culled. I'm glad he was the nice one. My kids can pick him up and pet him. Even though he is a big boy. I will have to see if I can find pictures of him when he was little.
