Kryra broke off from the main group shortly before reaching the centre of Caronia, she needed to be close to the action in order to help the wounded dragons, but far enough away that she wasn't in the middle of the battle. Arrow, Chandler and Coraline went with her, their jaws and claws packed full of leaves and roots that she would need. Although the learners were not quite warriors yet, they were capable of defending Kyra against a mild attack and helping injured warriors to their location for treatment.
A bit closer to the mountain, Amatis and the second group veered off and remained circling above until Camilla gave them the signal to attack. Around the same time, Camilla's wingbeats slowed and she began the rapid descent into Caronian territory. The Pelendavian warriors in her group swarmed the mountain, silent and swift as foxes. The wind rushed through their wings and carried them through the dawn and into battle.

Above even the second group who remained circling, Jasper had already spotted the attacking party. His keen eyesight had caught on to their presence soon after they had crossed the border, but only now did he begin his own attack run. His large frame and mass dropped easily and quickly as soon as his wings folded against his body and he whistled past the unsuspecting group two, headed for group one. The scent of the attacking dragons was familiar and easily recognisable to him, as it came from his old comrades. He wasn't able to, however, distinguish individual dragons at this point and randomly selected a target as he approached them. At the last second, he pulled back hard and threw out his long, wickedly sharp talons to collide hard with the back of Maggie with extraordinary accuracy. The impact crumpled her wings against her sides and knocked her completely out of the sky.
