Its not acceptable to incarcerate people for using drug use. Most of the population are on drugs anyway, for the profit of the pharmaceutical companies. God gave us natural remedies, including but not limited to medical cannabis. True drug addiction, as in heroin and crack addicts, are sick not criminal. If they didn't have to worry about punishment, they might be able to seek help and clean up.
Ok, we get it....It's 4:20 somewhere. One of your problems with the heavy drug users is that they become useless, unproductive people, and they got that way of their own free will. They aren't going to get a job or get clean because someone else wishes it so. They want easy money to purchase their drugs, whether they were legal or not....Breaking into your bedroom is just as chancey as robbing a liquor store.
I don't know where you've been living, but I run into people everyday, who have no facial features, except a big round head. Geez, you couldn't pick them out in a lineup, if the head was all you saw.
You are stereotyping. I know many perfectly capable otherwise law abiding citizens who prefer cannabis over alcohol to relax, and it is also a fact that cannabis is beneficial to our health. The government doesn't tell you that, but the medical benefits are proven. Fine! Get government out of my healthcare. When will the Republicans be pro natural?? Throwing such people in jail and seizing their property and children is a disgrace. The others you speak of are probably less than .05% of the population, if even that. Addiction is an illness.
You know what's funny about most of these wannabe socialists? They've only heard the last part of the mantra. To each, according to his need....If they saw the first part in action, as it would be in my world, we could get rid of that mentality in one generation....From each, according to his ability....That means, if there's beans to pick, that's what you are doing. You don't get to choose what your ability is. That's the state's job, and in a true egalitarian society there's no such thing as favoritism or senority. If there's work to be done, whoever's available steps up to the plate.
I live in a rural and poverty stricken factory based town. Yes there are poor obese people. I fully support community gardens, and other self sustaining - healthy living - community based food security programs for low income people. I want to turn a vacant juvenile detention center on 100 acres into housing for the low or no income. It will have a garden, poultry and other livestock for food security and independence. The inhabitants can keep it going with a little help. People just need a start in the right direction, some hope.
