Sorry...60, not 2/3 but 3/5...still doesn't balance out to a democratically controlled congress....

So I think that the phrase "Republican controlled Congress" is correct. Majority in the House, effective majority in the Senate since passage requires 3/5 not a simple majority.

What bills can the house pass without the Senate ? So the phrase "Republican controlled Congress" is wrong.

Same thing nobody uses them, most married couples the man gets fixed. Of course you cannot require your date to get fixed... hmmm maybe that is the basis for the argument.

Really, no one uses them? So they just keep stocking the shelves because....? You tried to make the argument that men pay for their birth control out of pocket (condoms), and that woman expect people to pay for everything for them. There are paid-from-pocket female counterparts to condoms, just as there are insurance covered male procedures and sexual activity related pills (ie. Viagra). Again, nice try.

I watched Obama's speech and as many of you know, I like the guy... but I don't get the "happy dance" comment. I thought he kept his speech highly unpolitical. Just like the republicans said they would act if it was overturned.. no "spiking the football." I guess maybe Royd if you could point out specific comments of his that you felt were gloating that might help me better understand. I think this will be one of those things that is unpopular at first but people will eventually learn to appreciate it.
Whats going to happen is a couple years down the road companies are gonna say "hey we dont have to give them health insurance because its a law that they have to have it" so then we are gonna be forced to pay for our own insurance which is criminal!! Obama is a communist and his bills and ideas prove it! How about we get a AMERICAN in office and get back to the constitution!! He is tearing down the greatest country in the world little by little!

Is it a tax?
Is it a penalty?
Is it a mandate?

This is the conundrum in which the Obama administration finds itself.
After the SCOTUS ruling that it indeed was a tax, in order to skirt the commerce clause, the administration is spinning like a top trying to avoid the T word.

If it's not a tax, it is still illegal. If it is a tax, we have a George H W Bush Read my lips, no new taxes moment, which must be overcome.

Here are some actual facts about contraception...who uses it, what methods are used, what the failure rates are, how many employer based insurance companies cover it (9 out of 10), etc...

These numbers tell the real story. Most sterilizations are still done on women rather than men, at a rate of almost 3 to 1. More woman use the pill than any other method. Younger women and teens are the most likely to rely on condoms, but the majority still rely on the pill. Pulling out works better than natural family planning.

Enlighten yourselves. Preventing pregnancy is probably the number one health concern of any woman of childbearing age. For most women that is in the neighborhood of 40+ years. For myself, in 25 years of marriage, only nine months of it, discounting time pregnant, was spent without some form of birth control. Based on my fertility, without birth control my insurance company would have paid for approximately 15 live births, 7 miscarriages and all the health risks associated with over 20 pregnancies.
