I have an awful memory, Matthew, you are probably right. I apologize. Whenever you agree with me I like you, rest assured

. I promise I have an indifferent view to you. I don't dislike or like you, you are just a voice. But this is just one issue I feel strongly about and... I know I am in the minority in this particular community, but I am all for it. But you are a good dude and it just seems we won't agree. We may argue but I'll try not to address you personally, I promise I hold no negative views... Heck, I even get along with Royd and he'd be first on the list of whackos.

What is a "real" ER visit from a none real ER visit? Ambulance rides are optional and i think insurance doesn't even cover it. My ER visits both times were just shy of $2000. Which is why I chose to have insurance so I only have to pay about 10% of the cost.

An ambulance ride is not always optional... I mean real as in "out of pocket" cost. If you injure me, you should have to pay for it. I am sorry, there is just no other way to look at it. In fact, it is found in the principals that founded our country that we can own property and seek damages against our property or selves. If people could be relied on to pay for damages when they don't have insurance, we wouldn't be having this discussion, but they are usually poor and so they have little or no money or assets, meaning if they cause me damages, I get left with no compensation. If they payed a small monthly premium, they can make sure that if they hurt someone, that person is compensated.

I think this is Republican propaganda Matthew. It is true that some will have a new bill due to the health insurance mandate, but many in that group WANT health insurance and have been unable to purchase it. The mandate includes provisions to help those who might struggle financially with the law.
There are a few provisions in the bill, which are advantageous to those who desire but can't afford insurance, and total cost isn't one of them. If a 30 year smoker, sitting on death's door wants to be sure that his last few months are painless and dignified, he's not going to get some kind poor man's discount. At the end of the day, the hosp. does just as much work as if he walked into the ER without a dime in his pocket.

I'll agree on helicopter/ambulance rides. Pretty unfair. I have a pal who is 30 years old. He has a 7 year old and a 5 year old. He got the 7 year old a BB gun for Christmas. He set the targets up in the barn, had the hay behind the targets. He planned to teach his boy to use a gun. The 5 year old daughter said, "Hey, Wyatt, shoot me!" he turned and shot her. BB went into her heart, life-flight, intensive care unit. Turned out to be a million dollar Christmas.

I sort of digress.. but it is really crazy the price you pay. My cousin's wife fainted in a Home Depot.. across the street was the hospital.. 100 yards away. $666 hospital bill. Creepy number. fitting.

The Constitution and contract law are being turned on their heads, by design, even as we type.

The devil you say?

Great. Say your accident paralyzes me from the neck down. I can only imagine how many thousands it costs per day. Should we bankrupt your entire family based on your mistake? You might say yes, based on the fact you have never dealt with it, but let's be serious. You are basically saying I am taking a risk by abiding to the law about auto insurance. If people crash without insurance they don't pay.... they do not pay. I don't get why this point is so hard for you to grasp. If you are suggesting it's a risk to drive because the government doesn't have the right to tell uninsured drivers not to drive then I don't know what to say. I guess I would be dumbfounded.

I dont think you understand how liability works. If everything I own is worth $40K an I hit you in your $100K car or paralyzes you from the neck down, you are out of luck. You can only recoup up to my net worth from me or my insurance.. That $40K is all you will ever get no matter what it cost you. My insurance did not help you one bit. It saved me from losing my house though. Now I could insure my car for more an you then could sue for more but insurers frown on that. Now if I am flat broke that is where the state minimum insurance comes in. You can be sued for that no matter what.

There was also a comment about buying more medical to cover family in a crash. Family that lives with you is not covered under normal Auto medical. You have to pay extra to cover them at all.

Watch how the Republicans spin it for the "repeal Obamacare" campaign focus.
I can definitely see health insurance being a platform romney will try to use during the next election. If he does use it and gets elected we will finally see how many people are truly unhappy about that bill.

Nice beard growth, rebel, your last picture made me think you were in high school(I kid, not trying to be a jerk).

I disagree with your comments, however. I made a dumb mistake when I was 20 years old. I fell asleep at the wheel after a long trip and I took out a telephone pole. It had a transformer on it. I forget the exact cost because I was under my parents' insurance back then but it was well into the six-figures. My insurance paid for all of it and it did not cost my family anything besides the deductible. I was on my parents' plan at the time.) It is possible that Oregon and the Independent State of Dade NWGA are different... but here we are covered.
