The Health Care Law.

I haven't studied the details of this new arrangement but, if I understand correctly, it will force people, to some extent, to buy private insurance. Please correct me if I have that wrong.

If that's so, I would say that it will succeed only as a first step. To work properly, the insurance must be State (Federal) run through tax contributions. Also, most of the resources must be either State owned or State controlled. If you leave the private sector, with its profit objectives, to run health it may be more expensive and those in most need will either be excluded or run out of cover. There's no reason why those who can should not pay for private treatment if that is their wish.

My impression is that Obama's scheme is a step in the right direction but needs to be developed much further. However if someone take the attitude that he is wealthy enough to cope with the private sector and doesn't care one jot for his fellows, then my views won't be accepted. If someone claims that social advances are unconstitutional, then I pity such a society.

But why would you stop at health care why not go to the oil companies or the lumber companies and on and on take the profit out of everything.

Pay for the oil with tax money and everyone gets free gas.

Stephanie,.. in one post you mention how well you've done in Obamas term, you were even able to start your own business! :celebrate ... yet you also say that you are also on food assistance...

Without going to deep into personal troubles, I have thankfully (humbly) accepted food assistance to make sure my children have not gone hungry while successfully building my business. People find themselves in situations not always expected, and I for one am grateful to live in a country that at least some people believe caring for the poor is important. Not everyone who takes assistance always needed or lived with assistance, and not everyone will live on it forever. And many do not take the help for granted. This isn't about wealth distribution. I have worked and have paid taxes much of my life, but raising three children alone has been a challenge. I hate the way the President's attention to the poor as "Food Stamp King" is thrown around as an insult. I see this as being a good and kind leader. The financial crisis has caused a lot of trouble. Our president has taken steps he believed would lessen the negative effects all of us might have experienced. I for one do believe many of his steps have been beneficial. I give credit where credit IS due.
What exactly are those steps? I see someone like yourself as a determined person putting out the effort to make a difference in your life. What did Obama do personally for you that was not in place before he took office? Is putting your children in debt one of those steps? I have benefited from the Bush tax cuts as a business owner as you have or will. Do you ever plan on hiring anyone? do you think you will be able to give them health care benefits that you can afford? I do not think Obama is all bad just he just lies. He told George Stephanopoulos (sp) on GMA that this health care thing was not a tax and he plain and simply lied just as smooth and compassionately as he does on other issues. That to me is someone/something I cannot support or trust.

The Mexican government subsidizes the gas prices for its citizens. If the privatization trend continues (the American way) their government is going to experience financial troubles. Just something to consider...

My business has now grown to a point where the end of assistance is in sight. I was able to grow my business while caring for three children and they never went hungry. It adds up perfectly well.

There are about 22 million cars in Mexico, about 250 million in the U.S. Mexico has about 120 million people and the U.S. has about 330 million.

As i said,... the struggling/ WORKING middle class will be the ones to keep getting the shaft....
They make too much for "food stamps" yet still struggle paycheck to paycheck..
Somethings not right when you are WORKING and getting more behind.. yet you CANT get ANY assistance because you make $100 over the income limit for help...
Yet folks that CHOOSE to have several kids (and yet cant afford to FEED them..) get free food and all kinds of assistance... go figure.. :th
Somethings not right here...

I blame George Bush for the financial crisis and the ridiculous war on terror - a war on our rights as Americans and human beings All started under his watch. He is a weasel. Please don't get me started there. I am first a libertarian and very much a capitalist and would prefer no laws regarding how I hire and pay my help. That isn't going to change under the Republicans or the Democrats.

The Republicans lie. They have manipulated this entire primary process and it disgusts me.

Have you been paying attention to the primary season? All of them (except Ron Paul) zero in on the poor, blaming "entitlements" for our debt problem. How dare they call themselves Christian. They prefer wasting money bombing other countries while cutting programs which help make sure children do not go hungry. Sick and twisted.
