Does anyone really think that those who pay no income tx now, whether because of actual income or deductions are suddenly going to have the extra money to fork over for the fine or the insurance.

The true freeloaders; not those who carry their own burden, are still going to be freeloaders.

The old saying,"You can't get blood out of a turnip." still holds true.

The one thing I do see happening is that emergency rooms which now cater to the needy, will probably be overwhelmed because anyone who pays the tax/penalty will feel it's their right to get their money's worth back out of the system.

In a few years, the health tax will be just as costly as the premiums for insurance will be so there is no incentive to skip the insurance. In VA we have an uninsured motorists fee. We don't have to buy auto insurance if we pay the fee, but the cost of insurance is a better deal since then we are actually purchasing a product.

I remember Obama harping on the 30 million without health insurance...It wasn't really his plan to force those people to pony up, It was just an opportunity to buy their vote.

Do you not realize they don't have the money for the insurance or the tax. you seem to think the higher the tax goes then they can pay for it. LOL

Royd, I really don't see this health law as any sort of freebie by any stretch. The 30 million uninsured he was speaking about include people who WANT insurance and cannot obtain it for a reasonable cost, if at all. The exchanges will fix this. Of course there will be some subsidies. The unhealthy who are uninsured because the private market wants $700 a month for a policy will be getting some assistance, I'm sure, but this isn't the same as freeloading. How many people can afford an extra $700 a month right now?? Others in that 30 million number may not be concerned about being uninsured but the government decided everyone needs to be insured to keep the system solvent (they can hope anyway!) Many will be paying out of pocket for the mandated coverage.

Its easy for people that are already getting free things from our govt to say how great this will be for people..
Of course..it wont cost THEM a dime ...real easy to say unless you are paying ..
