The Hidden Door-A Role Play (AKA The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop II)

Colby came up behind Nat and shoved his palms into the small of her back. "You're not getting acquainted enough."
Nat stiffened at his pushing, but didn't turn around. "Hey, I've already exchanged pleasantries with one, two, three, four, five people. And, man, this is the definition of a tough crowd. Cut me some slack."
Colby, intending to back off, somehow managed to get a claw entangled in the lace of her top and instead began the tedious process of removing himself. "I'm gonna go take a run. There's some little kids missing. Maybe I could find them."
Nat jackknifed forward violently, thrust her arms behind her, grabbed Colby's wrists, and flipped him onto the dirt in front of her. She could feel the torn strands of her shirt fluttering loosely from where she'd ripped his nail free. She couldn't care less about him being the cause of the ruin of yet another flimsy shirt, but Colby himself galavanting through this unfamiliar terrain was another matter entirely. "You are not."
Colby blinked up at her owlishly and inexplicably maneuvered himself onto his feet and out of reach within the blink of an eye. "Oh, but I am."
He began to blithely skip from group to group. "Anybody wanna take a run with me?"
Nat thrust her arms down to her sides and stormed after him, making her way through the clusters of displaced people with far less grace. "I was still getting acquainted, you know!"
Kylan's head snapped up, suddenly nodding at Colby, having heard why he was going. "My brother is one of the kids missing, so yes, I'm ready to get out of here and run." Maybe it'll help me think. He gave a cheesy grin, trying to show that he had no ill intentions.

Fred glances over “if it was one of my brothers I’d be jumping back through that portal singing good riddance.” Fred felt his glasses sliding down his nose again. He had needed them replaced after he had broken his last pair, these were the least expensive and about 5 sizes to big. Fred let out a sigh as he shoved the glasses rather savagely up his nose. “Maybe that’s just me” he thought out loud “or my brothers. What I’d give for them to see me now”

Kipp stood and raised a hand in a half wave greeting, an exhausted look in his eyes. There were so many people here, he wanted to go hide under a rock.
"Hey. How've you been?" He asked trying to be friendly.

Clary shrugged. “I’ve been bored out of my mind waiting for college to start. What about you? You look... good. Happier.” She said, looking him up and down.

Nat gave the taller boy a long look. That smile was beyond cringey...but, then again, it almost made him comfortably genuine. "Think I missed you in my thorough rounds of making acquaintances. So, yo, I'm Nat."
Colby was already jogging. He jumped a group of thorny bushes in a series of bounds that made the atmosphere seem to be missing a good majority of its usual gravity. "Alright, so what's he look like? Name?"

Eve pressed her lips together.
Do you know why they wanted us?
Hana shrugged, unable to give a definite answer.

"Lovely." Aella chirped, grinning down at him. She swung her legs, at least being considerate enough not to hit his head with her legs.
Suddenly, she flipped herself, holding herself up with her legs and dangling down in front of him. She still grinned, taking it as a challenge to know something about him. "You seem angry. Why are you so angry?"
Take stared at her with slight amusement, “I’m not angry, see?” he retorted, flashing a wide smile that he forced out. He started tilting himself to one side, making himself slip off the branch and land with stability on the ground. His shoes crushing the tiny sticks and leaves beneath him. It’s like I’m talking to myself almost.

"Uh..." Kylan only spared him a half second's glance. "That's... Just you. My brother is great."

Kylan nodded, stilling smiling. "Well, 'sup Nat, I'm Kylan Archer." He said quickly, jogging after Colby but opting to veer around the suspicious looking bushes. Who knows, they might be poisonous and kill me if I get scratched by one. "He's five, looks like me but with curly hair, kinda got a Irish accent. I think he was wearing a blue hoodie and jeans. His name's Torin."
He barely heard Lilith give an angry "Kylan!" as they jogged off.

"So, how was English? You look like a zombie." Maya said.
Charlie didn't respond. His hands were in his pockets and he was staring at the ground. After a moment, he looked up. "Huh?"
"English?"
"I'm speaking English."
Maya sighed in exasperation. "What happened in English?"
"Oh," Charlie thought back on it. He had almost fell asleep last period. "We were reading," he mumbled. Reading always made him fall asleep.
"I'm so tired," he moaned as he took his hands out of his pockets to gesture around them. "Why are we even here?"
'Here' was a park close by the high school. The glass was wet underfoot, and was quickly soaking through Charlie's shoes. The sun was hidden by clouds and the occasional breeze that brushed the trees was cold. Charlie stuffed his hands deeper into his pockets.
Maya raised her eyebrows. "We're here because we're watching your brother, moron." Maya said, amusement shining in her eyes.
"Oh. That fool." Charlie said 'fool' in a funny way, and grinned when his 6-year-old brother glared back at him. "You're a fool!" The kid shouted back at him, unable to hide a mischievous grin. He then ran off to the other playground, closer to the trees.
A few moments later, they heard a loud, "Woah!"
Charlie sped up, curious about what he'd found. He stopped in his tracks, causing Maya to bump into him. A door-shaped vortex had materialized on the empty playground. And his brother was standing right in front of it.
"Alex!"
Alex looked back at them, grinned, and jumped through the portal. Charlie muttered something under his breath and determinedly ran towards the portal. "Wait, shouldn't we call-" Maya reached out and grabbed Charlie's sweatshirt. He turned around. "You don't have to come,"
"Of course I'm coming," she muttered, and they plunged through the portal together.

Aella laughed at his obviously forced smile. "Doesn't seem very genuine." She sing-songed, swinging herself slightly, swinging herself slightly. She frowned when he jumped down, debating going after him. "What's wrong, pretty boy? Am I not good enough for you?"

Hana didn’t write down a response, instead she looked towards the people who ran off, in search of the kids.

Take rolled his shoulders, giving her an intimidating stare, “Lay off, Scarface, I don’t even know you” he growled, starting away from the tree towards Blair.
