The Hidden Door-A Role Play (AKA The Most Dangerous Coffee Shop II)

Kipp stood gazing through the wavy, rippling darkness, his eyes focusing on what looked like a red metal shipping container. Despite his reluctance to face his family after being away for so long he missed home. Staying here had really only been considered an option if they had been unable to find a way back. Not that he dislike it here, once they had gotten rid of Olim, this place hadn't been all that bad. The locals were all more than appreciative, offering to let them stay with them, giving them clothes, and food, and really anything they could possibly want or need.

He felt bad accepting anything from them though, only took what he felt he needed. Which is how he wound up wearing the odd outfit he had on. Some kind of traditional formal wear for Harpies. Loose flowing pants with multiple belts, that would have been pointless if he hadn't been wearing a sword on his hip, and a bag on the other. He had been using it for medical supplies, but now it only held snacks.
The top if it could even be called that, consisted of a blue collar, supporting loose sleeves. It had taken him a while to stop fidgeting with the band, but now it felt normal enough. He would have preferred a real shirt though, still not comfortable showing of his bare stomach and chest.
His feathers had for the most part grown back in though his wings still looked a bit shorter than they should. Even though it would be harder to prove what had happened here, he was glad that the healers had been able to get rid of the marks from his short visit to Olim's work camp.

He sighed breathing in the cool air as it passed over his face. It was time to go home.

Take gazed about the group he had been fighting with over the last couple months. It was a long and unforgiving journey to liberate Olim’s armies along with saving Earth. As he stood before the portal, thoughts filled his head and his face was visibly troubled. I don’t want to go back home, I like it here. It feels like I belong where weirdos like me are seen as any other person. There’s always adventures, something to do, unlike back home where I struggled to even pay my rent. I feel happy here. He took a couple steps back, his expression changed to one that was more determined and finalized on his decision to stay. “I’m gonna stay too.” he murmured without hesitation.

Kipp looked over at Take, he suspected he'd want to stay. Though he thought Take would have said so earlier, before they'd hiked back out to the marble platform where they'd first come through to Borealis. He didn't know what to say. He knew there was nothing he could say to change his mind. If he hadn't had family back on Earth he'd likely be staying too. The thought of flat out saying goodbye though, it didn't sound right. He knew him to well to just say only that.

Cam swayed in the silky green gown that hung around her ankles. She also had a cape that hung over it, and a crown of flowers sat on the hair that had been twisted round her head, making her look like some queen of vegetation. The leaves around her were beginning to change. Fall was beginning to touch the land of Borealis.
At home, it’s probably springtime, she released.
Yes... she wouldn’t exactly fit in with everyone in Earth, but she had gotten used to wearing dresses by now, but her clothes were totally ruined. Also, the Borealans had dressed her and her companions like this out of respect. They were basically royalty now.
At least I’m not bringing my sword. Alas, a bitter parting.
I’m so ready to go home.
“You know what? I don’t care if it’s Missouri. I just want to go home again.” she informed Kipp.
“And none too soon,” said Laurel. “I think you’ll find Earth a different place from when you left it.”

Kipp smiled warmly and nodded at Cam who had interrupted his thoughts, turning his eyes back to the dark circle torn into the air. Home. I want to go home.

A smirk pulled up a corner of his face as a thought came to mind for what to say. He had never much cared for musicals but it would fit. Kipp turned, putting a hand on Cams shoulder as he stepped past her toward Take and Kyle.

"So long, Farewell, auf wiedersehen, adieu." he sang. Waving his arms and wings, though less dramatically than was in the movie, and bowing at the end. "Adieu, adieu, to you and you and you." He mimicked the accent the character had as he nodded to Take, Kyle, and Rylie. He could feel his cheeks heating up in embarrassment his voice getting quieter as he went. Kipp huffed a small laugh as he finished, shrugging looking away. "I'll miss you guys."

Blair stared at the portal, Emma and Kit blissfully unaware of her struggle as they played nearby. If she had been offered the chance to go home three months ago, she would have jumped to the chance. Now, however, it was different. She was stronger and faster then she had ever been, transformations were easier and she was free. She wasn't scared to face the unknown, and college tests now seemed so minuscule in comparison to what they had faced.
She wanted to stay.
Maybe the clothing wasn't the most comfortable, maybe the men's trousers were a little to large on her, maybe it wasn't a perfect life for a girl who was hardly an adult and was more interested in ballet and college then anything. But she grew to love it. The adventure, the freedom.
But she had Emma to worry about. She couldn't take the girl away from her parents and friends. She had barely been able to take care of her along the journey. And part of her almost longed for home.
At Take's words, she slowly turned to look at him, her shock obvious. "You're staying?"
Take ran through his hair, which was now healthier and the bald spots had grown to become even with the rest of his hair. He kept it short though, like it was back in September. He nodded slowly, “Yeah.. I’ve been thinking about it beforehand.. trying to persuade myself why I should go back home.. but there’s really nothing for me there... in Los Angeles. My landlady most likely threw out all my stuff a long time ago... I don’t have my jobs anymore.. Elias is living his life like any ordinary old druid.” His hands tugged on the collar laces of his white long-sleeve shirt tentatively, “Besides, I can’t just go live with you or whatever, you already got things going on at your house, and your school life, dancing, family, all that.” A warm, endearing smile spread across his face, “I’ll be good here Blair. I’ll come visit you when I can. Just don’t worry about me, even though you will anyways. I still got lots of things to experience here, like riding a huge dragon and taming it to be my buddy.” He definitely felt that he could accomplish many quests and adventures out here, especially since his demon was sealed away a month ago.

Take went up to Kipp before the boy was able to walk through the portal and pulled him into a hug. It wasn’t exactly a a hug, instead Kipp was just standing up against Take as he put an arm around him, “See you later man.” was his solemn farewell to his winged friend. He let Kipp go and returned over to Blair, giving him a final salute and cheesy grin.

“Bye Kipp” Fred called before leaping happily through the portal and landing hard on his back. “Wait! Something went wrong I’m not in Sydney!” Fred cried “I’m stuck here”

Ellie jumped through expecting to be taken to her home. “What are you still doing here?”She hissed through her teeth. Eve tripped through landing directly on top of Ellie, “owww” Ellie moaned.

Aria stepped through, there wasn’t much difference to teleporting when travelling through a portal. But she didn’t land in her room on her soft carpet like she expected. No she landed hard on the floor next to two other girls who had obviously fallen through the portal too. “Wait. I’m still with the group??” Aria cried

Kevin watched the portal, listening to the casual chatter from the others. Missouri? That must be in America. He thought. It was going to be difficult going home without a passport. And what would he find when he got there? Probably a farm full of dead animals. He glanced down, watching his chickens. He had given all of the eggs Mama laid to the Corim family as a gift of his gratitude. After all, without them he doubted they would’ve made it as far as they did.
He turned around, facing the group. By the sound of it, Take and Kyle were staying behind. He didn’t blame them, Borealis was beautiful. Still, he didn’t think he would be able to permanently live here. There were way to many strange creatures, and he missed his family.
He nodded at the people who were staying behind. “Goodbye, Kyle, Take.” He said, stepping though the portal and into the cramped storage compartment.

During her time on Borealis, Hana learned to open up a bit more to her group mates. She didn’t seek out isolation from them like the former her would’ve in the beginning. When she ended up losing her prized kitsune mask during the liberation, she wasn’t distraught or eager to find a replacement. Instead, she saw it as being freed from her psychological shackles that made her so detached and emotionless. Hana smiled, laughed, and conversed more than she would’ve thought possible. She was no longer bothered by the trauma on her face and forgave her mother for ever causing the severe scalding around her right eye. She stepped near the portal, giving Take, Kyle, and Rylie a gentle smile and a goodbye before heading through the portal to Missouri. She was careful as she stepped around the quartet on the floor, “You guys okay?” she asked with concern, lending a hand to whoever needed it.

“I will be once She gets off me” Ellie’s muffled voice muttered angrily. Eve accepted the offered hand glancing down at Ellie who was glaring at Eve. Aria on the other hand was already up and peering around drawing a conclusion that they were in some place in the USA.

AND THUS
They saved the day.
It took them like three months however. Olim’s armies were liberated, ordinary people once again. Olim himself vanquished. Borealis was free! Earth was no longer under threat. Everyone had all the adventure they could ever want in a lifetime. They had much to gain. Wisdom, newfound strength in the face of adversity. Dragon fighting skills, super healing, etc etc even some tokens from Borealis. A few pictures, proof of the place they had been.
Korim and Elon skedaddled with gold they could bring home to their families.
They had most certainly saved the world. A portal hung before them. Laurel was smiling. He had these deep brown eyes you could never forget, so warm. Cam had never expected it. It was like a hidden majesty.
Kyle peered at the portal.
“Wait, that’s my apartment!” he said. Apartment in a light sense. It was really a 10x10 storage unit with a dollhouse in it.
“In Blahtown Missouri! A shame,” he said. “Since I won’t be living in Earth anymore.”
(That’s right guys, they just saved the world. I know we are all kind of bored of Borealis, so they are returning home to the quarantine that happened while they were gone. They have absolutely no idea what they are about to get into. Any questions?)

He nodded at the people who were staying behind. “Goodbye, Kyle, Take.” He said, stepping though the portal and into the cramped storage compartment.
Life was... Life was troubling.
It was turmoil, death, hatred, depression, confusion.
But it was also beautiful, sweet, kind, growing, happy.
Just like her.
It gave and it took, just like her.
And well, it was life. And life went on, no matter what.
Over her entire life, Lilith fought. She fought for the right to be treated like a person by other people, by her family. She'd distanced herself, ran away. She'd slowly lost her will over the passing months, and then she did the stupidest thing possible.
She, of course, stepped through a throbbing blue portal in the middle of her ramshackle apartment with her dog and camera.
Which then threw her into the most insane adventure in her depressing little life, bringing a new sort of joy to her small world. She'd met people just like her. She'd grown close to them, fought by them, fought with them, cried into one of their shirts when she became a younger her, and she could honestly call some of them... Her friends.
And that led her here, three months later-- Not even the same person who she'd left as. Not that same mad girl who yelled at snow and passing cars like some sort of tormented demon. She stood before the portal, having told her comrades goodbye, promising profusely to some of them that she'd keep in touch, and to Kylan that she would work up the courage and come see them soon.
She now wore a black cloak and a blue blouse underneath, and black leather pants. Her gold and emerald bracelet still on her arm, and the metal was metallic, not skinned. She wasn't embarrassed of it anymore.
She patted her camera, which held so many photos that she'd taken of the group before the batteries died, but she'd still have those from the first stretch of their journey. Of the platform, the flowers, the village, the statue, of Kevin, Tru, Aria, and Kylan in the water; of Pell, the gold, and even more.
She smiled, reaching down and petting Tru.
She glanced back, nodding to Kyle and Take. "Good luck, and goodbye." She murmured, letting that be the last from her. Without a moment's more notice, she flung herself through the portal, ready to be back in her sad apartment and start anew.
Only to trip on three girls on the floor and ram into Kevin's back.
She looked down and around, eyes flickering between Aria and Kevin mostly. "Seems wherever I go, I run into you freaking two."

Life without Take was something Blair didn't think about.
Life before Take was dark. It was hopeless, dull, painful and depressing. Then she met him, and everything was flipped. She had someone she trusted, someone who dealt with her anxiety without getting frusterated, someone who put up with her late night texts.
Someone who was a constant amongst the chaos of life.
It wasn't like she was losing him for good. But it wasn't like there was internet in Borealis. Which ment no texts. No calls. Less contact then they had had back home.
"But I need you." It came out a nearly a whine, her shocked expression slowly fading into a blank stare, something that hadn't happened in a long while. It was the most selfish thing she had ever said. She wanted him to be happy, she wanted him to live his life to the fullest, but with her.
She'd give up everything to stay with him. She'd give up her family, friends, school and dance career if it meant she wouldn't be seperated from him. But in the end, it was also selfish. She had to say goodbye and turn around and not look back, but the selfish part of her refused to let go. She ignored Kit as the collie twined around her legs, tongue lolling. She couldn't find anything else to say, just stared at him expectantly.
