The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Hi everyone am know to this group hope to learn alot from great people on here that have been doing this for some time:)

I just bought my first trio of Chocolate Orpingtons!! Am so happy about them I bought them from GreenFire Farm.

From what I understand is that this color is only in bantams. Correct me is am wrong please. Also my roo has some white cream coloring Barring in his feathers is this normal?

I have large fowl chocolates

and there are a few others who have them as well.

As far as the barring it is not in the large fowl but I have seen it in a lot of the bantam cockerels/roosters but not in the pullets/hens.
My thoughts is that it is single barring from somewhere since it is not in the hens? 2 faults that I am seeing in the bantam chocolates and not in the large fowl is the barring for one and the gold/orange in the hackles of the roosters (I haven't seen either issue in bantam hens).

It is my understanding that neither is desirable if you are breeding pure chocolates.

OMG How did u get LF chocolates? Mine r from green fire farm and I don't even know what size they wore to begin w am thinking there bantams. I will be emailing them about replacing my roo since I didn't pay for a roo w barring:/

We imported one line and also acquired the LF project line from Christina Korfus and bred them back to our LF English black hens
