The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

I have some more pictures of the UK import Creles to show how the color can be unpredictable some times. I hatched these Juveniles from the crele eggs I imported this summer. This is 3 different cockerels that are brothers from the same hatch.

Interesting......

Theyhave a beautiful shine on all of their feathers! Very nice. I love the color of the middle one.

Now this is a strange one.

She as born cuckoo and is nearly white now at 4 months old. She has a few barred
feathers left but not many.
I wish I would have focused more pictures on her but I didn't realize how unique she would be.
The first 2 pictures are her very young.
The third one is her today.

Her today 11.13.12, nearly all the barring is gone

What a transformation! Incredible. (If only the grey on my head would do the opposite?!)

That is so interesting Nellie, shes really beautiful..It looks like she is going to finish solid white, It will be even more ineresting to see what she does in first full molt.. she could get some barred feathers back..maybe not..will be fun to see what happens. she would work in either breeding pen.

wow, that is interesting.

Hi All;
I find myself in the sticky situation of needing a blue Roo. I bought one last summer to diversify my lines, and now he has red leakage, so I need to replace him. I live in Washington State. So those in the PNW would be really appreciated. I want a 100% English, please. You can PM me if anyone has anything. Thanks so much

Carol

Yes, it will be interesting to see what happens. I think this is one of those cases except for keeping records you probably wouldn't know she was ever barred........Till she hatched some barred youngins...........

Hi from South Georgia!

I have been lurking on this thread for several months and figured it is about time I started posting. Hopefully I can start participating in the conversations on here. I see there are some others on here from South Ga also and I'd like to get know everyone. Hopefully I can add some valued information on this thread and learn something also. All of you have beautiful birds! Here is a list of my birds:

I recently imported some chickens from the UK. Here are the breeds I imported
LF Chocolates
LF Legbar/Crele Orpingtons
LF Silver Laced Orpingtons
LF Black Orpingtons
Svart Honas

I also have some other breeds that I purchased here in America
LF Jubilee Orpingtons
Cream Legbar
Olandsk Dwarf
French Black Copper Marans

I know how much all of you love pictures, so I will try really hard to get some decent pictures of my chickens soon. My website is almost finished so a lot of my pictures will be on there.
I see rockinpaints also imported some birds from the UK. We have a lot of the same breeds so hopefully we can work together to ensure these breeds get a good start in America.

Rockinpaints - that weird white colored Legbar Orpington is actually a rec white bird. I have talked with different breeders in the UK and they explained that the white Legbars pop up every now and then. It is the same situation as the rec white cream Legbars that pop up pretty frequently. I actually have a pair of the Recessive white Legbars from the UK. I am going to try and breed them to keep the whites going along with the normal colored Legbars. Hope that cleared up some confusion. My rooster could be the twin to the bird you just posted. .

Hi Bryce, thank you for the information. Yes, when he first hatched I thought he might be white as I have hatched white chicks from my Golden Cuckoo Marans. But he is actually Lavender barred. I will try to get a better picture, a good close up.

Who did you import your birds from? (Or eggs?)
Would love to see pictures!
