The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Hi from South Georgia!

I have been lurking on this thread for several months and figured it is about time I started posting. Hopefully I can start participating in the conversations on here. I see there are some others on here from South Ga also and I'd like to get know everyone. Hopefully I can add some valued information on this thread and learn something also. All of you have beautiful birds! Here is a list of my birds:

I recently imported some chickens from the UK. Here are the breeds I imported
LF Chocolates
LF Legbar/Crele Orpingtons
LF Silver Laced Orpingtons
LF Black Orpingtons
Svart Honas

I know you and Richard are pretty good friends, would your birds be siblings to mine? ( important to know the genetics for future breeding

I also thought mine was lavender barred at first. I have found It is really hard to capture their actual color in a photograph. I have sent the photos to other breeders and they claim that they are recessive white. But, I have always thought that they looked a little more "off" white and could be lavender barred. The breeders may be wrong because the photographs do not capture their true color. I will try to take a decent photo of my pair and post on here soon. My rooster looks like a twin to the second Legbar rooster photo you posted. I guess no one will know what they are until they completely grow out and we start hatching.

Yes, Richard and I are friends. I imported eggs from Sandra Hildreth. So, I would guess our birds are probably related.

Deek - It is so nice to meet another person near me. Your gold laced are truly beautiful birds!

Nice to meet everybody

Yes, I imagine they are ........

The crele boy in question, he definitely has lavender barring.
First one is the most recent, in the other two he is a month younger.
He develops more gold as he gets older.

Here are a couple of videos of our imported large fowl Orpingtons; legbar and silver laced. To get a detailed view select the HD setting. It's great news for everyone that several bloodlines may soon be available in the US.
