The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

We hatched out some lovely chicks yesterday from Renies Peeps and Smith Hobby Farms.

The blues are from Smith Hobby Farms-Yellow bands (thasista, slongest) And the splash is from Renie-Red Band (ReniesPeeps)

I have a feeling that this little one is a boy based on the pattern of its top coat. How it goes from really drak on top then lighter underneath? Am I on to something???

Thanks to Smith Hobby Farms & Renies Peeps for the eggs!!!
They look great! Have fun! My babies have been huge Chunks!

We have a 100 acre Heritage Farm/Park in our Area. We are members and I love this place. They lost funding last years and there are things in need of repair but still wonderful. This is the chicken house and it has been out there for the last 20 years. It is a reproduction made when park was being put together. Has Wood shingles. I used to donate barred rock chicks when I raised them to help them keep this breed for the farm. I love the nest boxes they have built. One of the top nest was full of eggs. I want to make some like it. Maybe I can find some old wood planks.

WOW.. that is wonderful.... I like the way they did the nesting boxes.... more like bunk beds... I like the whole feel to the place. :) Bama.. if you have a local sawmill.... You can buy rough cut lumber a lot cheaper to make one of those. :)

Michael your chicks are very cute little chunky babies. I dont think your theory on Chick down will prove out on the blues though

Yip, I just put eggs in the bator again today along with some buff. I have English imports coming this week, and blue, and black Australorp. Sportman's is just humming along with chicken, turkey, quail, pheasant, duck, goose, peacock.

VIVI
Vivi I don't know how you do everything. I admire you. BTW Love the black in your Avatar. What type of geese do you have?

Yes I know where one is but will the wood hold up do you think. Don't know if you noticed how they let the walls breathe on the house and have two windows with chicken wire. They have the walls of the house on the side lined with chicken wire too.
