I am so sorry. I always feel like I'm jumping in on someone else's conversation on here. I'm Suzanne and I live in North Carolina. I have been raising rarebreed poultry for about five years now. It's very nice meeting friends on BYC.

These are Beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing.

Well it ain't been a good day here as I lost my oldest & best black hen today, She had come out of her saddle some how so I caught her & she was fine, she had been laying every day her head was chery red, feathers nice & shiny & getting around great so I put her on my knee as all ways & started to put the saddle strap around one wing & she through her head back took a big breath of air & that was it she died for no apparent reason at all, anyone ever noticed its always the best one you have that does this ?

Im so sorry to hear that. So sad.

Aww Roger! I'm sorry about your hen! I had one die a few weeks ago too. I cried, as she was a favorite. Not one I planned to breed but a favorite of mine anyway.

Again, sorry for your loss.

babys out in one of the grazing pens..sorry the white orp over expose my pics.I was out straightening up storm damaged fence and had babies all under my feet..Everybody from Pastor Romig to visitors LOVE rogers blue pullet..she is as round as she can be..so pretty..the 2 Roger boys are at Rick and Ruth Vs for now..they want to cross some of thier blacks into the line next spring then they will come back here..they BEGGED me to let them take this pullet..I said..I just cant sorry..

in thier safe place, I move the babies and thier pen around during the day if something scares them, they run into thier cage..they have an a frame but nothing like using a cage to make them feel safe..not a bad place to be..show training early LOL

hatched mar 30th ..Nellies beautiful birds under my feet while I straighten fence..they are nice birds ..easy to handle..not in a huge hurry to do anything here , just made decisions for next spring with them..but that could change..just going to take my time for a couple years..chickens are always a work in progress. I always look at the white orp as not something to prove..but improve..LOVE THEM

down from the pasture, and moving too fast for me to get a good pic ..

im so sorry about your loss. I definitely can relate to you. I went on vacation and while I was gone the spirit of death visited my place. I had someone taking care of my animals, but they did not think to put a light back over some of my younger juveniles. It got unseasonably cool at night and I lost two English white orps and two English black orps ;(
