The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Well, I got a couple pictures today. Most were on the nest while I was out. I think they are hiding out from the boys, cuz I am sure not getting any fertile eggs!

hey can you all give me your opinion on tails?? I have a big old dark blue hen with a big tail. not sure it should be that big. no pics at the moment but maybe tomorrow I will get some. I also have a splash hen with the fattest head I have ever seen on a chicken....wish the rest of her matched her head!

Wonderful pictures everyone !! Julie - those fat black girls are just gorgeous. I wanna see a picture of Taylor. I'm going to try to get some photos this week if I can get outside. The weather has NOT been cooperating lately !!

Mike - Welcome !!! Tell us about your orps !!! And we love pictures here.

I need to get some new pictures of mine. The combs on my original 3 "Joy" pullets are getting redder so I'm hoping they'll start laying in the not too distant future. I'm seeing some nice potential roos in the younger group of chicks from her. They're still kind of in the ugly duckling stage but are starting to look nicer. My group of hens from Julie are finally all done molting and are looking good again.

Kathy, thank you! I love these little buggers like nothing else. They amaze me with their size and dispositions everyday, I really haven't had any chickens like these before. (Well, Delawares are just as personable) Your birds look terrific, I cannot wait until my "little ones" are grown and start giving me some eggs!

Thank you Joy! I think my phone's camera just doesn't have the best quality, because almost all of my girls have amazing lacing so far. The lighter pullets tend to not have the same crisp lacing that the darker girls do, but all of them have it. My big blue roo though so far doesn't really have much in the lacing department though, does it tend to show up later with the males? It's only really on their breasts too, right? I'm gonna try to get some more pictures throughout the week... if the weather will ever clear up. Rain, rain, rain, that's ALL we're getting here. It's driving me crazy!

I think I had amazing luck, with my pullet to cockerel ratio. Not only that but I literally got 1 of each color of boy to pick from! I was so happy! Thanks again,

BTW Joy, I love your new avatar picture! That's Clem, right?

Thank you Julie, that means a lot to me coming from you!

Your hens are stunning, we need to get our runs covered so I can let our girls free range all day, I'm just so worried about losing them to hawks.
