The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Thank you Lynn and Dee. I have no problem with people using my pictures as long as they are not implying they are their birds trying to sell something. I love everone's pics and I have show pics of European Orpingtons before but not in any prestense of ownership.

I did get a email message a little while ago from the site that they would remove it. Thumbs up for them

LOL! at least You wernt doing anything shadey with the pic Dee. outside of a silloette ..! Boy I find this a little shocking ..in the UK? , Really?
I have my inspirational pics too, Vickie birds, a couple of great US Orps..and Nellie, Sandra whites as examples..

I dont understand that thinking of using somone elses pics unless you have permission.. I know that Im never going to be a puppy mill..not going to churn out birds for profit,..I dont need the money.. Im just going to try to keep a rare breed going and stock for other breeders for the good of the breed and the future of these extreamly rare birds working with other breeders to come up with solutions and just plain work together like adults. and with guidance from those who know and a couple good APA judges .as they are an extreamly important part,,they keep your feet on the ground about everything... ..and a couple of years down the road have some nice birds to show, thats my goal...I have one out back that is ready to go to show, hes pretty spectacular, but Im not taking him anywhere....as I was schooled, dont be in a hurry...

I know that in the past people have accused me of selling on ebay..I tell them my ebay name is lynnie17..if you find a chicken or eggs for sale in there..you win a brand new jeep! because there arnt any...
lol.png
on the side I am a multi national champion figurative art champion and have a small studio .so I do sell a few things on there ....and other than buying stuff , thats all I sell on there thou havnt had time latley..the champion figurative art is on my facebook page right up top best in shows and all... right now I am caught up in chickens at the so havnt had time for the art ..

When they steal my pictures they just leave the watermark on them.

Too funny Walt! Lazy thieves with a good eye.

Julie my watermark program takes seconds. I'll PM you the one I have when I return home. Once they been posted without a watermark they are on the net "to infinity and beyond...".

Delilah, X 2! When I am not home I check in and look at the pictures. Comfort food.

One of my girls is giving me really big eggs. I know this is the norm for some of you, but a very recent happening for me. This is from one of my hens, Claudia, from last year's generation. Poor baby. That has to hurt.

I have 4lb leghorns who lay my largest eggs. I have no idea how they do that.
Beautiful egg.

Why is it either/or? Type has been determined for the bird's (and horses, dogs,...) functionality. Everything about type ultimately is so that they can reproduce. Type isn't determined for mere looks. Orpingtons should be bred for their dual purpose and they should look like their breed. IMO, one should strive for both. My two cents.
I was asking yesterday when English orps start to lay. The other poster said it depends on if the breeder was going for type or egg production. I think my gold laced and jubilees are from greenfire originally and was Just wondering when they may begin to lay. What you're saying here makes perfect sense. I can't wait for my first egg!!

I have GL from Greenfire. My first chick hatched from parents that were 7 months 1 1/2 weeks. Contact Nellie (fancy chicks) and ask her about the Jubilees. I believe she has the GF line. Oh and you better believe that your first egg is something special. I'd compare it to Christmas. Look for their combs to start getting red. Make sure your nests are in place before they start to lay. They don't like new things in their environment. Kind of like my husband when I buy new furniture. LOL. Be sure to post pictures! (Especially of course of the GL!)
