anyone here take weights on their birds if so..what is the normal weight or the ideal weight for Orps 6-8 months?

I weigh my birds..
Normal..I do not think I have enough data to give a normal range.
At that age I have had them weigh 7lbs and 9lbs and anything in between. I had one that was so tiny I did not think it was ever going to grow. She weighed 4 lb at 6 months. She never got over 5 lbs.

The SOP and what are at shows are different..many of the winning orps look over 10lbs. Although I have never picked up others bird at a show..they just are larger than my orps and my orps are 10lbs.

i have a tiny american buff orpington pullet
she looks to be about 8 weeks old but really she is about 25 weeks old
she never got any bigger not sure what to do with her
she might want to be laying by christmas or my wife might do away with her
non productive birds go bye bye around here
we also have a non laying black english orpington
she hasn't layed for many months

i only ask for eggs from my hens
i only ask my roosters to not be too mean & to look after my hens
am i asking too much from them?
i don't think so

[COLOR=333333]A question for any who knows [/COLOR] [COLOR=333333] : How do you get better lacing on blues? & How do you get more splashes on the Splashes? My blue rooster has fairly good lacing I think, but the pullet needs some improvement. I do plan to breed them together so I am hoping he will improve the lacing, and for the splash..she looks good I just wish she had a bit more color to her like my pullet in the 4th pic that I sadly no longer have, she was killed by a stray dog that came through our property.[/COLOR]

Gorgeous!! I have never hatched a Splash. I really REALLY want one. Ahhhh someday.

I have yet to bred a female splash..males and more males..

I have yet to bred a female splash..males and more males..

what is your breeding pen set up...example I have 1 blue rooster over 5 black pullets 1 blue and 1 splash pullet...so I should get around 50% Blue 25% black and 25% Splash chicks
