The Lemon Blues are a tough project since they don't breed true. I have been working with them for over 6 years so they are from American blood Orpingtons and don't have the size that the English imports have. I have not wanted to add the English blood yet since it has already been a challenge. I think I posted pictures quite awhile ago of my original rooster which I still have. He is no longer being used but in happy retirement. I have not advertised them since I have seen the mean streaks and nay sayers it has brought when others have introduced new colors. Likely would not get the same response if my name was Keith and I lived in the UK.![]()

I agree that everyone loves the various colors. All the imports have increased my possibilities for more projects tenfold and the English imports are lovely to look at. Thank you for the kind words.I don't think so. Look at all the colors we are embracing here, people are going crazy for the silver laced, chocolate cuckoo, etc. If we were all to go by the APA, then you would only be seeing the black, blue, buff and white. I think it's jealousy for the most part when the mud starts getting flung about. I for one would embrace the Lemon Blue Orps! Hope you continue with the project.
I agree. I'm in love with all the pretty varieties of Orpingtons & am on this thread to see the beautiful birds. Add in the docile temperament & you've got the perfect pet chicken. Our backyard girls are treated like queens.I don't think so. Love the new colors and the experimentation! If Mr. Cook had stayed with tried and true, we wouldn't have the orpington at all.I agree that everyone loves the various colors. This thread is to post pictures and discuss the beautiful English Orps. Please, no discussion on APA standards, auctions, etc. We just want to see pictures and talk about this beautiful eye candy.
Winston and Clementine are our English Blue Orpingtons that we imported last year. I took some photos today of their oldest chicks, The O's (Olympia and Octavia), Hagrid, Rumples, and Bluebell, and thought I would share.
Bluebell - she is such a pretty little girl
