The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

My incubator started to peep & I can see 1 pip. The eggs which made it to lockdown are:
21 orpington (tried to get mostly lavs & some of Jewel's eggs)
12 turkey
7 serama

My biggest problem is the humidity. I have water trays under the floor holding the eggs, 3 tall cups of water with pads, and an extra sponge. The fan is different. Normally this set up would cause me to get to 70% but it's holding at 60%.

Any suggestions how I may increase humidity a little more?

Meanwhile, I put some shelf liner under the turner of my NR360 incubator. It makes the eggs turn smoothly & silently. However, after about a week, I'm noticing some rubbing. (shiny spots) Not sure if this is good. It could be the bloom being rubbed off or something from the liner being slowly applied.

I added a sponge and accidentally spilled some water. Humidity went up to 65%. :lau
Not how I had planned, but I'll take it.

Just before putting DS to bed.....
Never even saw the pip. Surprise! I've got an early bird. A lav orp.
(Humidity went up to 72% as it hatched)

So far I've got 3 blacks and 11 lavs & blues (hard to tell which is which but I think 2 are blues)

One chick hatched with a bloody navel and the others were pecking at it. It was quickest to pull the injured one out and slip it under Cookie. It's fine now, and Cookie is happy. Her happiness will suddenly & surprisingly grow when I add all those chicks.

Most of the turkey eggs are pipped. No poults or seramas yet.

Incubator party.

It's funny how they can be so active then collapse in a chick pile.

My viewing window is being obstructed by dusty, chick fluff

I grabbed a basket to transfer the chicks to Cookie. They looked so sweet that I had to take a pic. (Now I wish I took pics from a different angle, but they're content and happy, so I'll let them be.)

There's one very light lav chick. It could be a lav x blue. (It could also be from Jewel and be a recessive white.)
