Beautiful birds. Do Bantams count? This is my Silver Birchen Chocolate Orpington Bantam. She's the same size as my 5 pound standard breeds. How large are standard English Orpingtons? They must be huge!

She’s cute! My bantam Cookie was like that. She didn’t look as petite as other bantams because of all the fluff. However she weighed less than she appeared.

The English Orps are pretty big. It depends also on the line. My lavender blacks and Blue hens are 9-10 lbs but some of the Silver laced girls top out at 8 to 8.5 lbs. My biggest record was 11 lb hen. She was too chubby, though. Roosters are bigger.

Here was one of my favorite boys. He was such a gentle rooster to both people and hens. Always watchful and quickly put young cockerels in their place.
