Yes HUGE congrats Ruth....do you have any pictures of your birds?

This is a young cockerl that lives on my back steps and in my back yard.

His parents - which came from Julie and I believe are 100% English. I have a rooster and several hens - all blue:

I'm excited because I'm finally getting some black Orps (I had splash but no blacks).

For anybody that remembers - this time last year I was so frustrated. I had the hardest time getting any 100% English chicks to hatch. First it was the fertility thing, then hatch rates just stunk. This year - 100% turn around. Fertility is great and hatch rates have been great.

Right now, I have 24 hatched, 4 in the hatcher with nice big pips (and 2 are now zipping). I have a bunch of eggs in the incubator and another batch going into the hatcher on 04/08. What a wonderful change from last year !! Some of my hatches are only 6 or 7 eggs at a time, but at least they are fertile and they are hatching !! It's just a really exciting time. It's been a long road getting a decent flock of 100% English up from two birds, but it's finally almost a reality.

So for Winston & Clementine -

BTW, that picture of Winston and Clementine is beautiful, they both do look so regal.

Just Beautiful!!

Hey all!! Haven't been on in a while and since Ive been back Ive just been hanging out, lurking, and looking at all the beauties. My blue girl, Saphira, from Joy went to her first show this past weekend and although I'm pretty sure she didn't like it, because she had her tail tucked down between her legs all day, I got lots of nice compliments on her. The second bit of news is that I found an egg in the pen that she is in yesterday. Now there is one other pullet in with her, an American standard orp, who is a week younger than her, So it probably is hers since neither has layed yet, but Saphira's comb is getting nice and red so maybe soon!! Now if Jester's tail would just hurry and fill out so he can look like a real orp we'll be in business!! Glad the hatches are going so well.

Ruth, the UOC Secretary was asking me if I had sold someone in Texas birds cause she knew aabout the win. thanks for sharing that about Peggy Taylor. I met Pat Malone in Newnan and I really thought he was a nice man. Unfortuanately he was Judging a huge Marans show in the next tent. I am sending you a pm
