The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Monique- Wonderful news about Peggy! I love to hear about others appreciating the English Orps in the show ring.

Joy and Julie- I have been picking up a few things to do soap. My son starts school next week and I will have some me time to play! So far I am just buying the equipment....but soon....

Joy, I am so glad to hear that your fertility is much better this year.

Morning Katy!

Katy- I'd be furious too. What can you do about that? I see it quite often, at least on E-Bay. I would assume it is some sort of fraud to be selling eggs and/or birds and using pictures of birds that aren't yours to make people think that is where there stock will be coming from. That is just so wrong.

Other than emailing them I'm not sure what I can do. I reported the seller on ebay to ebay and also emailed them and they did take my picture down.

Since this is a website and not ebay I'm not sure who I could report them to...BBB maybe? I know a picture whether it has a watermark or not is the property of the person who took the picture so they not only stole that from me they're certainly defrauding the people who buy eggs based on that picture. They call them Blue Laced Red Wyandottes......but they're BBS wyandottes.

I have to say that I don't know much about Wyandottes - but those didn't look Blue Laced Red to me. I agree it is fraud, but not sure who to report to. Maybe the BBB is your best bet - though I don't have a lot of faith in them, either. People who pass their birds off as something they aren't really hurt the good breeders out there. It's a shame what people will do for a dollar.

Good luck - I hope you are able to do something about it.

Katy, I've got a PicasaWeb account that has an option to block anyone but you from downloading your images. If you upload them to Picasa, and select the 'all rights reserved option' then Picasa blocks the ability to download the image.

If you use Picasa for all the pictures you post online, I think that should eliminate the problem. As I can't test it myself and I've never had one of my friends try to download a pic to test it, my apologies if it doesn't work.

I will probably never see all this long and interesting thread but am sure glad to see this guy. Is he from the Manor Farm buff Orps or at least similar breeding? I'd feed this guy for sure and if he wanted he could have his own chair at the dining room table. He's gorgeous. I love the feather quality on some of these birds. Can be quite different than some of our North American buffs. I understand that no one has imported these buffs but wouldn't it be something if they were here? For those who are working with the imported stock, which seems to be black and blue (and so of course also splash), I was wondering if the imported stock is all basically the same strain/breeder (though one breeder may have several strains) and also if the stock has been here long enough for those working with it to have any idea of what can be expected in terms of longevity and general health and vigor. If someone is more comfortable responding privately I can be reached at [email protected]. And maybe I'll be able to work my way through more of this here. Great stuff so far.
