The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Quote:
From the main rules
3. No Flaming (verbally attacking people or groups of people - e.g. a profession, an organization, a company.)

From the BSA rules
1. Backyardchickens and the BYC Staff do not endorse items for BSA and are not responsible for anything related to BSA transactions between the members.
2. Buyer Beware – review the history of the person with whom you are transacting. A BSA listing is not the place to post your opinion of the item being sold (that's why we have a feedback system).
3. Be honest and follow through with your sale or your purchase.
4. If you have an issue, try to resolve it privately. If you feel the person is a repeat offender please use the report button so the staff can review. Do not address this in the public forum.

So no, you may not call out a seller on open forum. You need to resolve it privately and if you are unsuccessful, you can leave appropriate feedback. This is why we set up the system.

If you make your purchase outside of an auction in the BSA system, you have no recourse whatsoever.

Further questions should be directed to a staff member. You may also find a lot of info by using the search function and checking out the FAQs.

Thanks for the post Terrie.

However if someone is scamming people esp if on the BYC auctions here... then people need to be aware - otherwise that same person will continue to financially hurt other people. I do not call it flamming.... but rather a tool to call out people who are the bad guys.

I would hope that at the least the person who posted the comment earlier would email / PM you the name and send it to others who have asked.

Thanks,
Richard

Issue here is, what if an idividual is innocent and someone just wants to smear their name. I had a friend sell some quail eggs on eBay. He shipped the eggs. A acse was opened when the buyer claimed the eggs were not packed correctly. He sent another shipment. They filed another claim. Finally eBay issued a full refund to the buyer. These were Pharoah quail. A few months later that buyer was selling the same type quali eggs online. Can we prove anything? No. That buyer could have destroyed my friends reputaion, based on a lie. BYC has been around long enough to have just cause for their rules. We may not always agree, but the rules are established for the best intrest of all.

What folks send privately is another issue.

Thanks Terri for reminded us why the BYC rules are here.

I agree with the smear...... but in this case it sounds repetitive. I agree to contact seller to see if a mistake was made...and how he handles the 'mistake' will say a lot about that person. Like in the old days...... if people have a threat to be called out in public (punishment at the courthouse)...sometimes that deterrent is enough to keep the people who are swaying dishonest to be honest.

Makes you wonder - why today a man's word is no good? Just do what you say ..........

Since we are not going to know who it is.......... enough of this talk and back to English Orps..........

This week I have some imported eggs hatching.......Black / Choc split, Mottled, Jubliee, Cuckoo, Lavendar.........

I have been a victim of a particular person trying to "smear my name." I never sold this person a thing - not an egg or bird, etc. This person never once contacted me directly to ask me anything. Thankfully, enough people know me and have my birds, so this didn't damage my reputation at all. So, speaking as someone who has been the victim of a "smear campaign," I believe that the seller should be contacted privately at first to try to reach a resolution. If you find out that this person is deliberately and repeatedly scamming people, then pass the word along as best you can to as many people as you possibly can.

Maybe if there are enough people on BYC who have been scammed by this particular person, they could send that name in to the moderators/administrator and something could then be done?
