Yes- but it could be due to the trip over from the UK........ I did a cargo overnight flight.... so they should be well. I have 1502's that I use... I know they are good....

Do not know what else to do but break down and start weighing the egg each day on the next round and adjust humidity.

I would say to stop weighing, touching, even looking!! at the incubator. In my experience the eggs I am most anxious about and fuss over are the ones that don't hatch. I hardly ever candle anymore, only just before lockdown and my hatch rate is much much higher

I know it's a bit silly when if you have them under a momma hen she gets up and down and temps/humidity fluctuate, but the eggs really don't move very much under her except when she chooses to turn them, so maybe the extra activity of weighing them, no matter how careful is a contributor to low rate hatching?? IDK?

There are many factors that affect hatchability. You could have many things that are preventing them from hatching.

age of egg
age of breeder flock
health of breeder flock
nutrition of breeder flock
the air cells could be getting scrambled
if an egg is exposed to cold temperatures for an extended period, they can develop then quit late in incubation

It's a real gamble when you are hatching eggs that are not from your own flock and you do not know all the specifics.

It may just be the overall trip over causing the problems and I do know bantam orp eggs are not quite as hardy and their LF counterparts. I believe Joy brought over quite a few eggs when she imported (not 100% sure on count) and only had two hatch, which is her Clementine and Winston. That is just a long haul for something as fragile as an egg to travel.

You are correct Tricia. We imported over 100 eggs (Buff, Crele and BBS) and we had only 2 hatch - Winston and Clementine. Thankfully we got a pair of the same color. I've never hatched a bantam egg of any kind before, so I can't offer any input.

Wow!! What a disappointment! Hard to believe that the odds are so small of a successful hatch.

How exciting that so many of you are talking importing LF's!

Hi,

I hatched all of my chocolate bantam eggs at 45 humidity level. A couple of days before they hatched, I increased the humidity to 48.
99% of the eggs hatched.
That is my experience with bantam eggs and LF eggs.
Thanks,

Marc

I don't know anybody who has eggs for sale right now. I know that Jeremy has some started pairs available right now. Roger has just started getting eggs - he might be able to help you out in the near future.
