Mottled hens

Marc - I don't know how I missed these pictures !! You know, I have never been a big fan of the mottled - but I have now changed my mind. I absolutely am in love with them !!! When are you going to have these for sale? I would love to have a flock of these beauties running around my yard - they are just gorgeous !!

I keep telling people that these mottled orpingtons are, at least in my humble opinion, better birds than the Jubilees when it comes to size, feathering etc...
I should have juveniles available later this season if everything goes well.

Marc - I agree - judging from the picture I think the Mottled have better size, body type, and I like the looser feathering and fluff. I love them !!! I'm really interested in getting some of them - so be sure to let me know when they are available. They are just gorgeous !!

I'm also not very familiar with the white laced Orps - what info can you tell me about them? I'm trying to decide if I'm crazy about them or not - I like them, but still kinda undecided. LOL.

Wonder who the judge was?

I got my Buffs from A poultry show judge here in California. He & his wife are both Poultry judges & I got to meet them at the Paso Robles show. He has been raising them for a few years & got them from Terry Brit in Oaklahoma. I bought a trio from him at the J.S. West Breeders sale in Nov. They has been very good layers so far. They hatched out March 25th of last year. The ones I got from Jeremy hatched August 25th so are a ways behind these guys but when she kicks in if she lays as well I will be happy.
My husband has a nice camera but I am, unfortunately, a poor photographer & I took these several weeks ago before they were even laying.

The Gold White Laced ones originate from Bob Follows in Great Britain. My contact in the Netherlands received some eggs from him and at that time it was one of his color projects. I saw the first hen that she hatched out of these eggs and she didn't have much lacing at all. After one year the lacing was already better as you can tell from my birds.
I will try to improve it even more by crossing them to the Gold Black Laced or my Gold Blue Laced rooster.

So are these birds really White Laced Gold, or are they Splash Laced Gold?

Those are some really good looking Orps. Their body type is very pleasing to these eyes. Congrats Marc on some nice birds.
