The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

If your willing to go out of the Orp breed to get the color, I would recommend that you use Welsummers to get the BBR gene or Partridge Wyandotte to get the Partridge gene so you can get the crele color. You cant reach true crele from buff x cuckoo (or lemon cuckoo x cuckoo)

You could outcross to Patridge Rock, too. You would have to work on removing the yellow skin from the line but you would have your pattern color.

Yeah,if i am not mistaken it was a Plymouth rock that was used in crossing for the original orpington.

this is a video that fox 8 did up here at the farm,it's our partner frank's place and our place is where the goats are running around the pond,lauren had a great time training them to do this for treats,hope you get a laugh.

It's a Wheaten Orpington, it belongs to a breeder in the UK. I have longed for this color for a looong time.

One day I'll have them!

A few more pictures... again, not my birds, they're all somewhere in the UK.

The two hens in the front here are Wheaten and so is the large male on right. He shouldn't have any red in his breast, it should be solid black. The Wheatens are still very much a project color in the UK.
