The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Wow, it took me a lot longer than I thought it would to get these uploaded. Uploading them to facebook took at least half an hour (no lie). But that was my computer's fault... Hopefully BYC will be friendlier to me.

I have the Orps in with a Sumatra chick and some barred Rocks.

Cute babies!! Heehee he is a serious little guy/girl isn't he?? Love the pumpkin background!!

Well my chicks will be shipped tomorrow. Joy had her hands full with this batch. I talked to her today and she's awesome maybe a little frazzled after this hatch ( heehee) but awesome. One chick had a rough going hatch and may not get to come but sounds like I may have 3 blues and a black or 2 blues if the one isn't strong enough for the trip right now. Joy's practicing her chickie rehab and physical therapy to see if she can get him strengthened up in time for the trip. We'll see!! If he does and it's a boy I guess according to my "royal blue" names that one would have to be Jester cuz he came out clownin'!! Heehee

Hello everyone! Well, my computer crashed on my before the weekend and I just got everything back up and running, I've spent the past 2 hours catching up on everything I've missed. Emails, BYC, blogging, etc. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeez. I honestly think that means I probably just spend too much time online to begin with... heh.

Anyways, Cheryl, I didn't look very hard but I have to agree a lot of your chicks do look like pullets now. I'm not seeing hardly any comb development at all, maybe you got lucky and got all girlies! I know I got a few little boys in my bunch. As for the first chick, it does look like it's feathers are curling, any idea why???

Joy, hi! How are you? Have you started counting down the days until your vacation yet? Oh and those two new little blue girls are just gorgeous.

Bama, that splash cockerel you posted a picture of a few pages back, WOW he was BROAD!

Kassandra, here's to sending some good hatching vibes your way,

Beth, your chicks are looking a lot like mine, still wild looking! Mine have started to feather in a lot more and it amazes me everyday just how HUGE they are! They definitely are little chunkers. Oh! I'm pretty sure my splash chick is a cockerel (

) but I've decided to name my lightest little blue pullet Beth, she's very very pretty already. Her feathers are a soft powdery blue with nice dark lacing already. I'll post some pictures soon.

Hi to everyone else!

I really don't know why they give you tracking numbers for the USPS. I mailed a bird Monday and he has not made it although guaranteed to make it by 3 today. I know he probably fine but when I look at the tracking record they have nothing since he left 2 hrs north of me and he was going several states away. I don't understand why they don't scan them wherever they are so you can actually know what happened. I have found tracking to be mostly totally useless on most things. I have had them delivered and never show up that they were.

UPS' tracking is pretty accurate. Of course, that does no good for anyone needing to move chickens or eggs from one part of the country to another.

I think it's inexcusable that they would not scan live birds like you say. And this from someone who delivered mail for 18 of her 30 years in the Postal Service, with the last two years spent monitoring delivery confirmation mail in the Houston Mail Processing plant. I'd raise hell. They won't know there's a problem if no one says anything.

As for the chicks -

I want to love them and squeeze them and hug them and.. and...

Chicken_Boy - Cute pictures !!! Such sweet little faces.

Galanie - THanks !!! I know what you mean about The O's...they are pretty stunning girls, if I do say so myself.

Jeremy - Hey friend !! Glad to see you. Sorry to hear about your computer, but glad you have it back up and running. YES - I am so, so ready for vacation !! I'm counting it down now. I am soooooooooooo looking forward to doing nothing but sitting on the beach fishing and reading !!

Kassandra - Yeah, this hatch was nerve wracking. I'll be glad when Winston gets through this molt and is back to his normal "active" self.

Julie - The Postal Service tracking system SUCKS !!! I don't even know why they have it because they obviously do not use it. I shipped three shipments of birds yesterday and NOT ONE of them is showing in the tracking system. I get "There is no record of that item" on all 3 tracking numbers. Sooooooooooo frustrating !!! You know, you would THINK that the USPS would try to do a better job for their customers. The USPS has lost so much $$$ and so many customers in the last number of years, one would think they would be trying to provide better service to keep the customers that they do have. The youngster that I shipped you yesterday ..... I'm trying to track him and nothing in the system. *Sigh* Let me know when he gets there.

And for the first time in MONTHS...been so long, I can't remember...I have no eggs in the incubator and will have no chicks in the house after I take Kassandra's to the PO today. That will sure seem odd.
