The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

This may sound stupid of me but what is an import station? I would love to order eggs from across the pond but was thinking this was illegal or I would go to jail or something.

Oh no..its not illegal..its just paper work and inspections ect..you can look it up online..egg importation..greenfire is import station....maybe Im using wrong term for it..

There was an export ban from australia, you could not import any eggs from there due to deadly bird flu nd another disease...but England germany and others do not have bans at this time..

OK I see what u mean now. Was thinking it was very expensive and a lot of red tape to order eggs from the UK. I just cant spend 4 grand for eggs. It has been mentioned already the guy got them as eggs last year hatched and raised them and they have been laying now for a couple months but just don't know the details of how he got the eggs

Thank u Renie will check it out now. Hey I recommended your birds to my bud Mark and he sd he placed an order with u for eggs.

Also Dear BYC,
I am not interested in adopting a tortoise but thank u.

From what I understand from talking with DEFRA and other places -no one in the US has ever legally imported adult birds to the US from Europe. The paperwork does not even exist as of yet to do so. So everyone who has imported in the US either brought in chicks, or eggs.

There is a ton of paperwork, inspections, planning, time, and especially money in an import. A lot more than most people initially realize.

But importing is essential in getting these new breeds/colors to America for everyone to enjoy. I am glad I play a part in it.

Here's one of my silver laced hens from a couple months ago. I think I may have posted this photo before, so forgive me If I have. I don't have that many to choose from right now, as I have been taking the majority of photos with my cell phone and they are not that great.
If you can put a stiff tail feathers on these, you have this variety sewn up. I bred Sl Wyandottes for years, and these are very nice indeed.

Some 50%, and 100% babies from late this fall...All sired by Monty, 100% EBO.........

50 % P by Monty, out of Dolly. 3 1/2 months old

50 % P by Monty at 3 1/2 months old

Another 50% P. by Monty at 3 1/2 mos.
.
A 100% EBO K, and a !00%P,

by Monty x Mrs. P. at 3 1/2 months old

Thank you for the compliment! It means a lot coming from an experienced SL breeder.
Of course, I cannot take all the credit as all I did was hatch the eggs and raise the chicks. Someone else put their hard work, sweat, and tears in creating them.

As I said, this picture was taken a couple months ago. Since then, the hens have continued to fill out and I do believe the tail feathers are a little more stiff. I will try to take some photos eventually and post when I have time.
