Some pictures of a few of the lovely lively chickies Renie sent me. They are so great!
Uh huh... and here I thought you were home sick... they are a lot of fun.

Ok well I took a few pics the other day and none came out really great but here's a bit of an update

They got some scratch to bribe them to be still. The one on the far left is my hatchery broody. She's eyeing Mr. Harry for some more paybacks!

Decided to try a top down comparison to the 5 gallon bucket thing. Only he wouldn't stand right by the bucket. Oh well.

All in all, I'd say thedragonlady did great with these guys. Cleo is laying a lovely pinkish egg every day and they are indeed fertile so I'm collecting them and will be thrilling my broody to death with a gift of real eggs to hatch in the next day or so.

ETA: They are 24 weeks old.
GORGEOUS sunshine group!!

Chocolate Bantam Orps are so broody. I had one go broody today and decided to set on just 2 eggs. So, I thought why not? I robbed the 2 eggs and gave her 5 American White Bresse eggs, one black, one Jubilee, and 3 Chocolate Bantam eggs in exchange. That should keep her busy. I'll be anxious to see the results in 21 days. Y'all cheer for her.

Edited to say: "Oh yeah, she bites!" I just love how they melt into the bedding and eggs.

She looks pretty determined... Adorable!

Kiniska, I am admiring your chubby babies! I know you will enjoy them.

I am so thrilled that some of you are cranking up those incubators! Makes me ALMOST jealous. Almost because there is no way I'd be able to feed all those hungry little raptors! Not to mention housing them! Maybe in another lifetime.

Since I only breed for myself I need to stay on a small scale, but y'all make it very difficult. I am controlling my addiction by only having 3 gorilla cages. The third can be divided in half since it has two smaller coops for bachelors, or broodies, or separating young by gender. I also can't figure out how y'all arrange free ranging. With mine, only one group goes out at a time so they can only do so every third day. I need to work on that aspect of my setup. Sounds expensive.

How do y'all setup so that all those birds go out? Is it because they are all the same age and can play nicely? Or do you have multiple free ranging separated by fencing? Inquiring minds want to know.

Sarah, those golden beauties will add sunshine to even a dreary day.

Have you weighed that boy? I don't know how he can grow feathers with that big build he is growing at the same time? He must eat non stop.

Lynne, ditto for your trio.

You can tell you don't change the color in your pictures! When you have the real deal, it shows!!! They are truly golden.

Great weekend everyone!
