The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

They could very well be Orpingtons. Maybe they were made with an outcross and just need another generation or two to get back to type. See what you get out of them.

I paid $1,000.00 for the pair. A John Brandon from Southernpoultryfarms.weebly.com sold them to me as 8 month old large fowl crele -cuckoo orpingtons from Greenfire farms and Priscilla Middelton English breed orpington. I almost fainted when I opened the box and saw this pair. I really got duped. They are considerably smaller then my 5 moth old English orpingtons and look nothing like an orpington.

Oh man!
I don't know much about the type on the Crele ones, but most of the Lemon Cuckoos I have seen are not the same shape/size as the other UK birds. Perhaps its a similar situation. Maybe somebody that raises the variety can shed some more light on their type.

What color Orps do you have? Our Partridges (and a couple of our Jubilee hens) are a LOT smaller than the BBS Orps we have. The outcross to get the color may have been from a smaller breed - so you would need to breed them back to Orp size.

I have black and blue orps and they are 6 1/2 months old and doulble in size. I also have some real English crele but they are only a few weeks old

It sure is a lot of money, I really don't know what to tell you aside from having been there myself. Maybe they might turn out decent with time :) I wouldn't just cull them.
