The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

I am very thankful, I haven't yet had anyone stolen, I think that is because I live way out in the middle of no where 20 miles from town in a very small neighborhood. everyone in our neighborhood is either family or like family...we do have a few new people here but they also have their own farms.

Only the Tail is to Dark to Show. The Tail is Exact Color you Get Crossing a Buff to a Red Orp. Good Buffs come in Different Shades, Judges all have their preference.

Vickie, My Pure Line Pullets Based on Bill Bacon's and My Birds are a little Heavier and Lay Larger Eggs. However I do have a Few Nice Heavy Cockerels out of the Sacre Bird.

I shipped some jubilee chicks and the top of the box was ripped off, and three chicks were missing. I'm not sure if they were taken, or just lost.

Sorry you had your buff pair stolen dragonlady. Do you think they know what they got, or maybe they are waiting for your golden chickens to lay golden eggs. I usually find thieves to be ignorant.
Thepeoplewho stole my birds knew what they were looking for. They took a young male from Marc and a young female to go with him.

Was able to snap a few pictures of a few of my orps yesterday :) I am so new to the orps so any advice on the birds I have is very very very appreciated :) Love checking this forum out with all the info on this lovely breed! Thanks!!!

oh so tired...had to work most of last night and all morning as some people do ..but its what it is... Yep Vickie, they could have grabbed any birds out of your yard they grabbed the brit birds..they knew exactly what they were doing..or did they? they might have them but you know how these things go..they become run down ....badly bred ect...so glad you got the security going now ....

Allen... that rooster is unreal..really he is...awsome choice...I am not sure who bill bacon is as I was never a buff person , till now.. I think he won some really big english awards but other than that dont know much about him..people often throw names around and I sit here and think, shrugs? I dont know what that means...bet he has some really stunning birds thou....I do know who pownell is thou, read many articles on him.. I try to read a lot on different UK and continental breeders, but have to work my way back to US breeders.. all interesting to me..

Does anybody know where to get books on breeding orpingtions. Uk books

search orpington breeding book UK , some of the books are out of print but they now have a new machine that will print a copy of an older book that has been out of print ..it prints out a complete book. LOVE IT ...I wanted a hard copy of hubbards poultry secrets..I think it was 15.00 plus shipping rather than trying to thumb through kindle or nook trying to find what i wanted to know..thou I love those too..there are a lot of free books on cornell free library for nook, kindle ect about orpingtons including william cooks book a fowl for our times..but all of the books there are older, but all free, just download..

hubbard was a formost orp breeder of his time..won madison sq gaden many times and even beat william cook and sons..thou lot of the treatments are way outdated today, the breeding advise is as good today as it was then, about purpeling in blks to brassy whites and why it happened..corrections ect..

I wish a lot of todays big orp breeders would sit and write of thier projects, experience, breeding advise ect..so far only the great australorp breeder ray connor has taken to writing..good read..not sure if any of the them have but wish they would..

dont mind me worked all night running on 3 hrs sleep
