The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Here are 2 girls sired by 2 different English Orp cock birds. The pullet on the left is 8 months old, sired by Monty. The pullet on the right is 5 months old, and sired by Max, Monty's brother, who is more extreme in type. They are both out of SOP hens, and both showing a bit of "rooster wear".

Seeing as I don't show, at least not yet. Which of the girls would you say fits the British standard better then?

This is a great picture. It really shows the different body types.

Either of these girls fit the British Standard and the US SOP. The pullet on the left will beat the one on the right in the US due to her great skull , good wing and tail angle, depth of chest and great body capacity. She will also be a better layer due to her slightly longer body length. Some judges in the UK are now putting up a more extreme type, such as the pullet on the right, but the older judges will also prefer the pullet on the left. She will simply produce more eggs and meat than the bird on the right, and that's what Orpingtons were bred for.

The one on the viewers left is a nice deep bird. No flat front on her.
