The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Those are Gold laced.. Nellies Grand Baby's..lol Than a bunch of different English Orpingtons Chocolate Cuckoo Jubilee Blue Black White I have a question for those who do Mereks immunizations. Have you tried to give it to older chicks? Adults?(I did) If you have, did you observe any weird side effects? Have you killed any chicks giving Mereks? (I did)
Do you sell the orpington babies?

I do sell English trio's and quads on occasions when I have them. I will be selling what I decide not to keep later in the year from these.

I have a variety of breeds and I do sell and ship chicks. I shipped one large batch of chicks this year when we had a three day window. I am a bit backed up with orders since I will not ship in bad weather. It should be interesting in about 4 weeks with this weather and all of these chicks in my house....lol

Ah man so the ones that started didn't hatch? Grrrr

No, dang it. It was not a fertility issue at all, definitely a shipping issue. Actually sometimes I wonder how any hatch at all after being tossed around, it is amazing!
And yet I continue to order eggs

OK hubby helped me and I took some pics on how I give the marek's vaccine. It is not way off the beaten path as this is a red orp chick (thus the red dot

)

My specimen

I cup them in my left hand (I am right handed) and grasp the nap of the neck
between my thumb and forefinger and rest the chick on the outside of
my hand on my pinky finger.

I inject the vaccine between my thumb and forefinger. Two reasons
for this, one is I can feel the vaccine make a bubble between my thumb
and finger. The second is that you can not hit an air sac doing it this way.

Yes you could stick your finger

I've done that plenty of times, but
you will not hit an air sac (or spinal cord.....)
Good luck!

Nellie,

Thank you for the pictures..It looks close to how I do it. (I hope)Sometimes those squirming screaming chicks make it hard..most chicks don't seem to mind one bit. I get wet fingers many time and end up laughing so hard from trying over and over. Poor little things look like soggy messes sometimes when I am done.
