I'll try it, I guess. Sure would be nice not having to change bands.
Don't have babies yet. Have some in the incubator. My favorite hen Lola and Max's babies. Keeping my fingers crossed. I also have some from Nellie's gorgeous blacks. Man, they're spectacular. Not sure if those are fertile. I even plucked the blacks, but they're so fluffy...sure hope I get babies from them too!
Awww, I would love to see pics Dee
I am not meaning this to be radical but what's happening to the imported Orps is really sad. People are breeding two birds together and getting chicks that look similar to an imported version, then labeling them as coming from someone who actually has them (thedragonlady, Ewe Crazy Farm, Heirloom, etc etc etc - I think you get the picture)
Several times in the past 2 weeks I have corrected a few auctions I saw that said their birds originated from me, when, by the pictures they clearly did not. In each situation when we got to the bottom of it they were not what they were supposed to be. Unknown to the seller as they bought them from someone in good faith, spent a lot of money purchasing them and much time raising them, just to find out they were not what they were supposed to be.
I can take credit for a mess I made all by my self - I don't want to take credit for one that I didn't make

OK having said all that........Vicki, any suggestions on which toe to punch for permanent ID (the easy one)? Any adverse effects on the chicks or any situation that it should not be done? I am just going to punch one. Does it bleed
. I have a toe punch and want to try it but haven't done it yet.....I want to toe punch all my chicks. There are so many people who are selling birds that they say came from me and a lot of them did not. If I can permanently mark (almost like branding) them then there would be no question as to whether they were from me.
. I feel like the "poultry police" when I email someone about the wording in their auction
. All joking aside I think it is genetically important for people to know what that have, and equally important quality wise to know what they are likely to produce in future generations, otherwise the beautiful birds that were imported will be lost..............

Some of these people never even had the pattern or color in the first place! I have seen some that were said to be from you and I about feinted, I knew better... I should look into the toe punching I guess... sounds so dang mean though!!
