The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

I squatted to get a pic of my pretty orp pullet & see the look she gave me. (I think she was upset to see the camera instead of mealworms. LOL

I have a genetics question:

1. If I put black roo split to Mottled and chocolate over a chocolate hen it will give me what?

2. If I put black roo split to Mottled and chocolate over a chocolate Mottled hen I get what?

My goal is to have as much mottled chicks as possible and for my roos to be black and hens brown. Thank you for any help.

Do you mean the roo is only carrying the mottled gene? Not actually showing it?

^^^^ he currently appears solid black actually, at about 3 months old. I'm told by reputable breeder who I purchased from that he only carries one copy of the mottled gene, and one copy of chocolate as this is the roo I requested.

Mating him to a mottled hen would get you the most mottled offspring, of course.

Mottled to mottled = 100% mottled
Mottled to carrier = 50% mottled; 50% carriers
Mottled to non-carrier = 0% mottled; 100% carriers
Carrier to carrier = 25% mottled; 50% carrier; 25% non-carrier
Carrier to non-mottled = 0% mottled; 50% carrier; 50% non-carrier

Black roo carrying chocolate over chocolate hen = female offspring will be chocolate or black; males will be black carrying chocolate or chocolate

You are awesome, also I have a black roo split (carrying one mottled gene) to mottled.
So:
Black roo carries mottled X chocolate hen = ??????
and
Black roo carries mottled x chocolate hen that carries mottled = ??????
