Mary - I use two of the 1588 Genesis Hovabators. I use one with the egg turner for the first 18 days, then I use another one w/o the turner (of course) as a hatcher. I've had really great success with this. I will check out the Roanoke Craig's list....was just in Roanoke this past Saturday....what a NIGHTMARE !!

We met a friend to drop off some chicks in Fincastle. Stopped at Kroger in Roanoke on the way home and did some grocery shopping. Got home (2 hours later) and went to get my purse out of the car - NOT THERE !! I ran in, called the store, and I had left my purse in the shopping cart in the parking lot !! Some honest soul turned it in. Soooooooooooooooooo.....we turned right around and drove BACK to Roanoke to get my purse. We were in the care 10+ hours on Saturday and we were exhausted. Anyway.....I'll check out Craigs list...thanks !!

Just keep looking, sometimes there are some really good deals on cabinet bators on CL. We found our hatcher for $250 on CL. Just because they are asking $400 doesn't mean you can't try and negotiate? Always worth a try.

I really really like my cabinet bators. Also have a brinsea for small or special hatches.

Got a question for you all. I'm hoping to ship some juvenile pairs in the near future and was wondering if anybody could tell me the best place to buy shipping boxes. Also, which would be the best box to use for a young pair? I've shipped plenty of chicks, but only a few older birds, so thought some of you here might have some suggestions?

Thanks !!

Joy

JOY I had that happen to me... Left my purse (black fannypak) in one of those carts at the airport.....drove a mile or so down the road when I realized I had left it behind. Drove back like a mad woman..... found the cart had been moved..... but my purse was still there... and I had Brad's cashed paycheck in it too.... OH Thank God it was still there.

Renie - I swear, when I got home and realized my purse was not in the car, I ran so fast to the house to call that I bet I left burnt rubber !! I am very thankful that somebody turned it in. Having to drive another 4+ hours to get it was the bad part. I'm just thankful there are some honest folks still out there. I'm glad you got yours back too !! I don't want to repeat that experience EVER again.

Tricia - I remembered somebody telling me about the shipping boxes from the mom and pop place, but could not remember who it was !! I am so glad it was you ! Thanks a bunch.

Joy, this is a great "mom and pop" company: http://www.boxesforbirds.com/ Nice older couple that gives very personal service. Their boxes are spacious and much easier to use than the Horizon boxes and I feel their prices are also very reasonable. Just my two cents worth.

What about Belle Farm? They are such nice folks. I bought some of those portable pens at the Morganton show Saturday and she didn't have enough. She had her husband bring me some from home and then their grandson carried them to the car for me.

Talk about great customer service! Their email is [email protected].

Do you have your pens separated so you know which pen the eggs came from? I mark my eggs and if I am hatching from different pens in the same hatch i use little lingerie mesh bags and put eggs from the separate pens in them so they hatch in the bag and I can tag them. Of course the only one of the chicks I thought was black was the large chick with the very black legs. The one with the broad chest.

Thanks for sharing this BRILLIANT idea!

I have a lavender pen, a split lav pen and a BBS pen and was thinking I would have to hatch in different batches! BRILLIANT!!!
