So the "standing on the girls until the mood hits again" is a common thing?

Yep - it is a very common thing with my boys. A lot of time, I go knock them off the girls. Good luck with the saddles - they really are a big help.

Cool. I've made saddles for my smaller hens, but never for these huge girls. Will have to take some measurements.

If it helps, the saddles I am having made are 9" in length and 11" in width.

I will start there... pulling out the box of fabric now...

I have 2 buff orpingtons and one blue and one black splash. They were all born at the end of September. The two buffs have been laying for a few weeks now but, the blue and splash aren't laying or crowing.

So when do Orpingtons usually start laying or crowing.

Thanks,

I was hoping for pics as they were taking them at the show but looks like Cecil stole the spotlight this month, or should I say the newsletter. That's alright though as it's all about orpingtons.

Are these English birds? My English boys typically start crowing around 4-5 months, sometimes earlier, sometimes later. My girls usually start laying between 7-10 months.
