OMG!! Just heard they destroyed like 250 imported chicks in quarantine in NY for avian influenza!! Not sure what breeds etc but still horrible.

It's the birds that Harmony Hill was selling presale and had imported from the UK. They were still in quarentine there.

Does anyone have confirmation of this? What a horrible thing to happen!! I had heard there was a case of AI in Cheshire, but how on earth would infected chicks get out of England past their export exams? Sheesh...I hope it isn't so. What a mess.
