The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Joy,
One of my blue pullets from you spent the day on the nest. At roost time she was still there. I booted her out; she growled and went right back in the nest.

OMG, if you only knew how many broodies I have here...........

Off topic here, but she was proud so thought I'd share!

This is a pic of my daughter Annslee's science fair project board. She is in third grade. We hatched to sets of chicks (same breed - bantam faverolles- it's what I had on hand) and fed 2 different groups 2 types of feed. Group A got regular ol chick starter 20% protein, Group B got game bird starter 28% protein. we then took and inital group weight and and weekly weight. We were only able to weigh for a month due to time constraints but low and behold guess which group gained the most weight..... yep the game bird starter group. Bt almost twice the weight. Wouldnt say it's a completely reliable test group, but interesting how significant our results were. Anyhow here is our pretty board!

OK back to orps!

Thanks. It was definitely a much more invested project since we have so much time invested, ya know, compared to the usual project. My friend practically did her daughters for her. While annslee obviously had some help on this one she did most of the work! Can't wait on grade and science fair placing. She's so excited. I'll let tall know!

I still have a question about the quality of the color blue.
I do understand the lacing part, but the actual color blue, should it be all the same blue tone within the lacing?
Here are two of my 4month old girls. I think they look pretty good, but the shades of blue are not consistant in each feather, some are lighter then others, even on the same feather one side is lighter then the other side.

Can you all give me your opinion on the color?
