we have 11 eggs from renie's peeps going into lock down tomorrow.

we are hoping to make a drive up to her place later in june to buy a nice black roo an i cant see us leaving without some chicks.we cant wait till this fall for our orps to start getting big an fluffy.we have 20 orps right now but no english.

ya we are already selling all our orps we have now we are going to work on a lav project with some black english .an then a bbs pen we will keep some from this year that we just really like to free range an eat bugs.

Well it is very hot here today. Still 95 right now. It was 105 this afternoon. i had to put fans on chicks. Another hot day tomorrow.
I did take a few pics and you can see they are all hassling.

Julie, where have you been hiding Champ??? He is awesome! He looks as big and round as a turkey. I would lovingly refer to him as Butterball.

I've wondered how these big Orps do during the hot summer months, Joy said hers also faired well during the heat. We honestly haven't had ANY summer here in the Bay Area yet, it thunder stormed today and right now it's only in the mid 50s.

I'm worried our tomatoes aren't going to set any fruit. We've got plants that are flowering now but we'll see if they start growing fruit.

ETA: That light blue pullet in the second to last picture is going to be a looker.

Thanks Jermey. I am still letting Champ grow up. He will be a year old this month I think. I have had him in the breed pens. I have some nice chicks growing out. I have three pens full younger than those. I had had the girls and boys separated in two pens but with this heat I have turned them all out with access to a larger pen.
We are expecting more hot days. We are praying for rain. No rain in 3 weeks and with this heat you can imagine how dry everything is. I am having to water flower beds and garden daily. The grass is not green and pretty. I didn't plant tomatoes because we have a tomatoe farm less than a mile from the house. Looking forward to a good ole tomatoe sandwich. I have been making zucchini bread, stuffed zuchinni and cooking yellow crooked neck squash with pepppers and onions. We have been having squash with squash.. Giving a bunch away too.

I am soo happy to announce my first 3/4 English Splash baby I hatched is a HEN! Yeah... now I have like 6 more of them to mature out. I have soo enjoyed the babies I got from you last yr

This yr... I bought some 100% English Chicks from Joy. They arrived yesterday.... Their little feet hit the dirt running I tell you... right to the food bowl. hahaha

Thank you Julie and Joy for bringing so much pleasure to me and my family.
