well, it is confirmed, I have Mareks here. Now it is a waiting game to see how many more of these beautiful orps i will lose

I think my Bama kids are 3 months old, will have to look. I have 4 definite girls and one that keeps me guessing....which means I have 10 definite cockerals. I am not losing my mind, had someone else confirm the girls experience more loss than the boys with Mareks. I just need to downsize these boys. I can't afford to keep feeding them just to cull them to burn them

. Since I can't let anything leave and the Mareks makes them waste away the "chance" or "what if" is now gone...I need to seriously cull at least 5 of them. I am going to ask for something difficult. If I post pics of these boys can anyone help decide the "keepers". I feel bad asking but can't afford to keep extras for nothing

They have arrived! Both are doing well and awaiting me to put together their new home. Pictures to follow.....

Congrats to Jean for the new arrivals. I've been watching the other site and know you have been in the running for these guys for a while! They will be in good hands.

I was pretty ticked last auction when I lost. I somehow got logged out during the last few seconds of the auction.....

But now I see why, I wasn't supposed to pay that much for them and got a way better deal this time.

By the way, just got the hutch put together, what a PITA. Easy to put together, right.....

missing wing nuts, screws weren't long enough in some areas, etc

Now to get the babies fed and watered.

Good things come to those who wait! Bravo

What I think is most exciting is not that you have chocolate english orps, but the foundation genetics for so many wonderful possibilities...

Krista- I am sorry that it is indeed Mareks. I am sure everyone will help you decide who to keep.

Jean- Congrats on the chocolates, and the auction results! I can't wait to see pics and hear all the details of age and such.@

Wow Jean, that's a really nice hutch you built there. I just love the orange colour. And the screening is lovely too. Oh wait....are those choc orps in there?!

I am so sorry it was Marek's. Did you get them vaccinated or decide it was too late? When they get to 5 months old can you figure they will be carriers but not die from it/? I think getting input from those on this thread with experience is a good idea. Plus...it will help others when we see which are recomended to keep or cull...hopefully.
