The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Hi from Ga. I would think if you cross an English Orpington with an American Orpington you no longer have an English Orpington. That would be like crossing an Orpington with a Ameraucana the calling it an Orpington with a beard.

These are 100% PURE English Chocolate Orpingtons, imported from UK, and are from the Robbie Boyd blood lines. These are Bantams and not Large Fowl; we are working on acquiring Large Fowl Chocolate Orpingtons. I wouldn't consider cross it with anything else.

Hi from Ga. There is a difference.

****BEWARE THAT BREEDERS ARE BREEDING ENGLISH CHOCOLATE ORPINGTONS BACK TO U.S.A. STANDARD BLACK BANTAMS. THE END RESULT WILL BE A BIRD THAT DOES HAVE THE CHOCOLATE COLOR - BUT DOES NOT HAVE THE 'FLUFFY' LOOK NOR THE BEAUTY OF A PURE ENGLISH CHOCOLATE ORPINGTON.****

They also will be alot smaller. Have you weighed yours? SOP bantam Orpington standard weights are 34 for a cockerel and 30 for a pullet. I'm guessing there will be a HUGE difference, more then the fluff.

To my understanding UK bantams bigger body size than US bantams??

Would be great to see the two of them side by side, pictures can be sooo deceiving.

Hi from Ga. Thats true . Thats why keep them separate. The different Orpington Organizations are conceding have an English class. That way everyone can be happy just don't cross them and call them Pure.
