The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

I woke up to a second Splash chick in the incubator this morning! I had miscounted and there were 4 eggs remaining last night, so now there are only 3 that haven't hatched. Oddly enough today is day 25... so these babies are hatching late. I think my incubator might be running a few degrees cool. I typically let my hatches go until day 25 but I've never had any hatch this late. I will candle the remaining 3 eggs tonight around midnight and whatever doesn't have any signs of movement will be removed.
So now I have 2 fatty Splash babies and 3 fatty Blue babies!

Someone I know is looking for a 100% rooster. If you have one for sale please PM me your email address and I will have her contact you. More than likely it would need to be shipped.

Thanks!!!!

If she can wait a few weeks for my babies to grow, I'm sure I'll have a little boy for her. I don't plan on keeping but 1 cockerel out of my new babies. Want to PM me her info?

Shipping costs would probably be significantly less too with a younger chick.

I guess I didn't know yours were 100%, Jeremy. No wonder they are all so beautiful!

The six chicks I have from Joy that are 100% English are 4 males and 2 females. I imagine I will have a couple boys to cull out. Though I hate to.

Ok...so this topic is totally unrelated but I need to ask. How do you get your farm name written across your chicken pictures?? I've read on BYC that places have taken their flock pictures and used them on their sites. I do not sell at this time but SOMEDAY I hope to have a really nice flock and THEN would like to know how to do things.....like advertise with our farm name. I am very poor at tech stuff but I will have years to practice. I know that Jeremy does it and others too. This may sound like a dumb question but I'd really like to know.....Anyone??

Daphne, off topic but... how are the Ameraucanas doing? Did they both end up being boys?

Sigh... yup. They are both boys, one wheaten and one splash. They are handsome, though, and have some serious beards going on. I'll try to get some pictures soon. They're growing up with 20 or so Orps and their personalities are so different. They're sweet, but they HAVE to have attention. They're definitely the class clowns. They untie your shoes, keep a running dialogue of peeps and squawks, and perform aerial acrobatics. You can almost see the Orps roll their eyes.

I'm waffling as to whether or not to try for more. I don't want to risk hatching more boys and am not crazy about the idea of bringing in started birds. So, for now I've decided not to decide.
